I've started to run low on funds for college and am thinking about enlisting in the military so they can pay for it. leaning towards the navy. what are your opinions? go for it? find another way? limit my vocab. to HOORA! and SIMPER FI? Still looking at other options for paying for this too. There are worse things than death.......much worse things!

I'm in the army and its hard work. What you have to realise with the navy you coukd be carted off somewhere and be off at sea for a year. I'd join the air force as a administator its safe, you dont get sent to war and you get to improve those important filing systems.

My friend Billy (some of you may know him as "Sins of Khardis") just did the same thing for the same reason. Signed up with the Navy, and is goin off to basic in a couple months. I don't think it's a bad idea at all; I've considered it myself, and I never had financial worries in college. Life experience, man. My only problem is that I'd be killing for a country I often forget I live in and a God that doesn't take sides

Sarcasm there, Keeper?
I'd say try for engineering. Ye'd have to be smart 'tough... I've considered the army myself, but I needed to have finished my college before my comp skills would be recognised by the army. Eh, I guess I won't be joining... ... Time has no bearing... ...when the whiteout begins...

Well lets just hope he and his fellow seamen dont end up awash in a city full of discharged seamen

Why dont you join a ahem... 'government information aquiring' team. Basically its a group of goverment hackers who keep taps on citisens and spy on rival nations.
A friend of mine jpoined our IAK and he's on a nice juicy payroll of 76,000 euros a year and he gets 1 weeks paid vacation every 12 weeks.

Well the deal they are offering me right now is i go to basic next summer. They put me through college for my ph.d in pharmacy and then i go active for 5 years. during that 5 years they put me through OTS as soon as i grad. and i become an officer then spend the rest of my time on a carrier, cruser, or a base. not a bad deal so the 'cruter tells me but i tend to not believe everything they tells me. I still wouldn't join the navy, bad food, bad hours and being suck in the same place for months. Oh and navy officers are 10 a cent. The AF is a really good choice if you ask me, you stay in your country, you can go home to see your family once in a while instead of just getting mail like you would on a ship.
Oh and did they mention that you'd be on reduced pay? It's a con if you join the army to get through college they cut your wages until you've paid them back.

nope they didn't mention reduced pay. and as for being stuck on a ship, for me that would be paradise. and i don't visit my family now except when i absolutly have too.
AF officers don't get promotions as fast though. There are worse things than death.......much worse things!

I'm still getting accustomed to being a sergeant I'm not ready to be an officer yet. Trust me by brothers a captain in the SKKK and it is hell, he has to do a lot of crao to get things done like filling out endless forms and letters. I'd still of AF only becuase i like flying and i want to do a course in learning to fly a helicopter.

I have the same problem of needing money for college. I momentarily ignored my pacifism and went to the army's website. Call me a mary, but as soon as I saw pictures of guns, I felt ill and never thought about the military as an option again. Fucking your mother doesn't make me any less of a HOMO.

my sister is doing well in the army, she's signed up for another tour and is getting sargent training in alaska, and then another one of our friends is in the navy, she loves it...they get to fly around with navy seals, sent us a bunch of pictures from turkey and gets a kick getting to board enemy ships and laugh at them I think the armed forces are a good thing, i've seen many people go in messed up and come out decent human beings...except marines, they are just crazy! like i'm not expendable now? besides i probably wouldn't be using a gun more than to pass the monthly test thing anyway. i'd be a pharmacist working in a milatary hospital most likely. There are worse things than death.......much worse things!

accidents in the american military are relativitly low...depending on what career you choose, my sister is a ranger but she's a secretary so she's been relativetly in safe scenarios..aside from their typical training methods...i've never heard of anything bad from her or the many others i've known in the military except their weight/size category...but he never was able to fit into their set goals...that's his only beef(no pun intended) To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Personally i would have to agree with the final statement anti-hero made, i personally would not feal comfortable joining an armed service in protection of a country whose politics and ideal i whole-heartedly disagree with, but yeah. that's just me I hurt myself today,
to see if i still feel,
I focus on the pain,
the only thing thats real,
The needle tears a hole,
the old familiar sting,
try to kill it all away,
but I remember everything, HRA for life

I was in the United States Navy myself.
Since you mentioned that you wanted to be a pharmacist, I recommend that you become a Navy Hospital Corpsman. If you do well in your A-school, you can go on to a C-school and become a pharmacist tech.
As a Navy Corpsman, you will be working in hospitals much of the time. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
