my friend had to go into hospital the other day. She has been cutting herself for absolutely ages and I was getting so pushed to tell somebody but on tuesday she took an overdose. I thought fuck this I'm going to tell someone. She was on anti-depressants and supposed to be taking 1 a day and she took 9. I don't know what it is with her there is nothing particulary wrong with her life yet she seems like she wants to die every minute of every day. I think its just for attention but I really couldnt say as thats just my opinion but I know when I used to cut myself I didn't show them off to people like she did , maybe it was just a cry for help. I often think of breking my own bones and stuff like that but I don't know why.........

Hmm...well you shouldn't do that. There are other ways of dealing with things besides inflicting harm upon yourself.

It sounds like your friend has a serious problem, but she doesn't know just quite how to deal with it and does what most do, and resorts to hurting herself, be it but an overdose or whatever.

But that is definately serious. When someone talks about suicide and cutting themself or taking pills, thats one thing, regardless you should keep an eye on them, just to make sure, but usually when people talk about soemthing alot, nothing becomes of it.

But its a bit different when people are actually doing something. Something not to be taken lightly.

Yeah my friends fine now she came out of hospital the following day and now she's going to see a phsychiatrist person. I never got that bad though I stopped because I realised that harming myself was no way to go about it I should either talk to someone or keep a diary, I now keep a diary because I have a bit of a problem communicating with people most of the time. I'm most likely to stutter or forget what I was saying half way through the sentance and I'm usually quite quiet but sometimes I have an outburst or something but I'm fine with people that I know well most of the time ( not that that makes a difference to my speech !)

Well, my old friend came round last night and he says that the reason he's so screwed up is because I wouldn't go out with him a couple of years ago, so now he self harms and it's all due to me. He's also suicidal and keeps telling me how he feels like life is bland and empty as he has chosen to kill himself so nothing matters anymore, and he's just drifting til he does it.

I don't really believe that it's my fault as he was always a manic depressive, gambler, alcoholic etc etc (!) but it is difficult because I can't help him as he wants more from me than I'm willing to give, so I have to keep a distance so he doesn't start to think there's hope we'll ever date, but then he has noone else to talk to and carries on doing it. Argh.

I dunno what I should be doing? Don't want to make him worse. He stabs things through his hands, forks and screwdrivers, as well as burns and cuts etc. Ugh, I just don't know.

I've been know to have a history of this sort of thing...cutting to be exact.Anyway i stopped for a while...but the day before yesterday i did a qucikie with a razor(i stopped because my recent boyfriend means so much to me and i have a reason to smile)But this guy sean r (bambam2532) knows him...he hated me i thought cuz we had this thing,but we wernt together cuz of distnace.So Me and matt are together then my other ex craig who says i ruined his life cuz i left him and i was the world to him.So I was talking to them and i went cuz i had work but at work i did a qucikie to rid the emotional pain and brin on physical pain...i dont know why im tellin u people this...u dont know me or nething..but im just confused.I will not leave mat or nething for sean ,im in love with matt.but ive been cutting since i was 12...goin on 13...ill be 15 dec .19.

um ok....i dont no how to start so probly at the beggining is best. I started cutting a couple of months ago because i felt unliked and alone and hated as im not the most sociable sort of person. Im wary of people in general and i will only speak to them once i know i can trust them. I really did hate the way my mind worked and the pain of cutting made me think clearer. I started with a compass and i didnt really know what i was doing. Then things got worse and i did it more regularly, infact, whenever i could- in the school toilets, in lessons, at home and even at my friends house. When my mum found out at first she was really mad. Now she just jokes about it which makes me feel quite sad because i feel knowone has helped get through it. Ive delt with all the hurt and pain myself because knowone talks about self-harming. Its a subject thats almost 'brushed aside' by people because they dont want to or dont no how to talk about it. I stopped doing a couple of weeks ago because I met a boy who has made me feel really happy and good about myself and i dont want to hurt him by carrying on. My best mate is also a cutter, and recently she has started again with a stanly knife. Her arms are a total mess, worse than mine, I tried talking to her but i just felt hypocrytical but i think she understands why she has to stop before she becomes suicidal. I know another boy in my year at school who whilst on a school trip to france, bought a penknife and slashed his arms the whole way down. When the teachers found out that confiscated his knife and had a go at him! This was honestly the worst way possible to help him. I found him in his room the day after and I listened to everything he had to say. Now i know why he felt he needed the attention and he seriously needs to talk to someone who can help.
Anyway My question to anyone who reads this thread is: "why does knowbody listen to other peoples problems? Instead of talking at them, why dont they talk with them?"

People are very weird animals ( referring to animals because we are no better than them and probably below their standars anyway). I myself prefer to keep my problems to myself because as I have said I'm not a big talker. My friend the one I also reffered to in this topic kept everything to herself as well, the thing is sometimes people just can not get through to the people who are inflicting things upon themselves as they don't know what to do about it themselves. I'm sure that you can talk to your friend who harms herself as well because she probably knows what it feels like. Things have been a real downer on me lately and even though I have said that I stopped self harming I started doing it again but not like really badly, my mom doesnt ask anymore because I don't think she knows that I do it to myself or anything, Ive just blamed it on the animals scratching me. The thing is every self harmer is doing it for different reasons, that is why it is so hard to come to terms with other people. Anyway my friend has got a lot better now and doesnt harm herself anymore and she would absolutely kill me if she found out I was doing it to myself.

your post came sort of at the right time.I just thought about cutting again just now. I dont know why but i keep thinkin my boyfriend is gona split up with me i know it sounds really small compared to other peoples problems.
I cant help thinkin it because of what has happened with some of my previous boyfriends even though nothing has happened between us to make him want to split up with me (at least i dont think so).
Anyway im going on and on about something that has no relevence.
Thankyou for starting to answer my question. I used to do the same as what your doing by blaming the cat on cuts on my arm. Your lucky you have a friends who has (or is) going through the same as you and maybe its a good thing that she would go mad if she found out that you had started again.
At the moment i very much need someone to talk to but in my very limited circle of friends i dont have anyone that is likely to understand.
