This is something that even though it happened over three years ago, it still gets to me, because I was punished for being intelligent. Sophmore year of high school I was taking this science class which incorperated three areas of science: Astronomy, Geology, and Oceanography. Geology and Oceanography I know a fair amount about, but Asrtonomy, there is almost no end to what I know. Now to set things up, in high school I was a lazy shi head, I never did my work, I ended up dropping out because of my views on high school, which were it was a waste of my time, largly because I wasn't learning anything out of my required classes, except for maybe math, but I was shitty at math anyways, atleast when compared to how well I could do in my other classes. I basically had the potential to be the top of my grade, had I done the work. But oh fucking well, I hated being in the high school spotlight anyways. At any rate, when I was in this class, I pretty much had that attitude, it was a waste of my time. Near the end of the semester though, we were given a project to have done by the start of the final week of the semester, and it could do with any part of science in that course. I figured what the hell, It'd be fun, and I could talk about something I love, Astronomy. So I did my report on the live cycle of the sun and the solar system, which I already knew almost all there was to know about it, but I had to have atleast 7 sources of infomation, could have been anything but ourselves, obviously. That was the hardest part of the assignment was finding the sources cause of how much I already knew. It took me 2 weeks to find them. I also decided to add images to my report, those also took part of the two weeks. Well needless to say I wrote a very infomational, easy to understand, and damned good, and long report(19 pages with images, 15 without) at least for high school science. Well I spent 4 nights typing and/or hand writting everything to type up. Well I finish typing my report at school the morning it was due, my teacher let me do so cause I asked her about two days before mainly cause I didn't have a computer at the time. Well I type it, print it, and turn it in. Two days later she has finished the reports. She hands me mine, and all my hard work and effort amounts to a D. At first I was only a little upset, so I asked her why I got that grade. She said it was because I didn't list my sources, when I had put all 7 sources in THE FUCKING BACK OF THE DAMNED REPORT LIKE I WAS SUPPOSED TO I was very meticulous about my report. By the end of the day, my other three teachers said that I deserved a much higher grade than what I had gotten. She never changed it. I know for a fact that she looked up my sources, which I will admit didn't have much information in them because I didn't need that much information. The only area of my report she wrote a negative comment on was at the very end where I was basically saying what if this had, or would happen. Other than that she thought it was good. I am glad she wrote those in ink. I could tell that she had learned some new things from that report by the comments she wrote, thinking that I had researched them, till she had looked at my sources, finding that they didn't tell me much. Infact all the sources gave me was my front page(no I didn't plagerize), and the images. The rest was all from what I knew, and I knew I was right too. I personally think that it pissed her off to have a young lazy shit head like me, who never did his work, come in, write a very informative report, and have most of what he wrote come from what he knew. I have had a history of teaching my teahcers things when it came to astronomy, and except for that one, all of them were very pleased at it. Even if I am wrong about the real reason why I got the D on my report, am I wrong to be upset over being told that something I worked my ass of to do isn't even work shit? Story of my fucking life, I tell you. Work my ass off to accomplish something, and every fucking time I get told in ain't worth shit. I even work my ass of at work, and all I get is extra work as a reward. Sometimes I wonder why I even fucking try.
I know the feeling. You put all your effort and all your work into something that you are really proud of and someone who thinks they are higher than you basically says its shit and aint worth being put in the bottom of a budgie cage ! Look , sometimes stuff like that happens but other good stuff does happen now and again.
LUCAS:Joe, I think its gonna be ok
JOE:What makes you think that?
LUCAS:Who knows where thoughts come from? They just appear.

Why do you even try? Well, you try to proove that you can do it. I know the feeling too and about the work thing, you are absolutely right. The thing is that over time I came to realize that it does not matter if nobody reckognises your work. All that matters is that your work helps someone or something.
There is no limit to the man who does anything without getting the credit for it.
I want to live in a world of peace
Without conflict, like the one I’ve seen in my dreams.
I just can’t keep it inside
I’ve gotta say what I wanna say
Your face doesn’t show your fighting pose.
you do it so that one day you can look back on their pathetic asses and laugh. saying to yourself that finnaly all this hard work has paid back for something, and that karma has taken care of those people who treated you unfairly. i'm a huge believer in karma, it always came in handy w/ me.
Exactly why I left High School two years early for college. Public education in America is absolutely worthless, and I am still pissed that I lost my best years of learning to it. I never learned in school. Ever.

I think that is the same for almost any country. If I would just spend some of the time I lost to school for studying myself, I would get to learn much more...
no, its more a status quo thing... try and make a lowest common denominator from which people can at least survive and at best move on to bigger and better things a little easier...
