okay i know u must all be sick and tired of giving advice, but i don't really need advice, just a conformation of what i'm saying: i've been cutting myself for about 3 years with stops, peaks and lows, normally i only do it a few times a day, when something stressy happens, but the last few months i even hide myself in the toilet during the break so i can cut myself, i take every chance i have and it's like i'm so addicted i can't even stand 15 minutes without doing it..now i don't really find it disturbing, cuz i need it and it helps me, but the hurting-myself-stage has evolved to banging my head against the wall for about half an hour, without being able to stop...it's like i lose control over myself and get into some kind of trance
now all i need to know: this is still quite normal right

it's normal in the way of dealing with trouble you go through in your life. Though dealing with trouble in your life does not justify the fact that you mutilate your own body to feel better.

I have been there, still am. I get angst attacks, double up and work myself open, it's bad. It is a constant working and learning proces in which you find out that what you are doing is theoretically wrong. But the feeling is so good

Endorfine is what causes that, it is a chemical substance created by your own mind to numb the pain and make you feel floaty. It feels good while it lasts, just like drugs.

I know i am the least person to tell you what to do, and i am not going to tell you to do something, though i can give you advice about things to do. Maybe if you feel such an urge well up again, mingle with people. You won't hurt yourself that drasitcally when your among people.

It's just advice, thats why this is the advice board. Your not freak or anything, automutilation is a well known thing. but it beeing well known does not make it right.

when people cut. they just don't do it right. they always happen to cut on the side and miss the vain. if you are a true cutter then cut at the vain. i don't think that this is a normal behavor for you since you bang your head on the wall and cut your self alot.

ok well, i kinda know a little about this...obsessive compulsive is what it sounds a little like. Well yeah, you do need help if you want to stop. Try going to your doctor and ask them if they can refer you to a good councellor, thats what my friend did and now he is on pills...wait thats bad...welll the point is you need help to get off this addiction you have with pain. I know how it feels a little ive sorta been there...ohwell c ya

wynter i've been to numerous shrinks...they just gain my trust and lose it over and over again..they're so predictable
i've even stopped cutting for about six months, but then something happened and i just couldn't handle the pain
i know this is just a way to distract me from my mental pain but..it helps

one day you'll get up and just not cut anymore...it's common for young people to do this...emotions start getting stronger and more confusing, they need to express frustration some way...the hard part is when you have stopped for years, and people look at you and start asking uncomfortable questions about how you're life's going, explaining to people why you have the scars...a person tends to become fond of longsleeves and keeping arms palm down during interviews...

there's help if you want it, you just have to want to stop before you can..like any other addiction...

*WeIrDGiRl*, If you want to stop doing it you have to face what causes it... but its not important if you dont, because it is your choice.. if your lucky one day you'll just stop, becuase you've realized it doesn't help, it doesn't cange anything.. and move on.. *shrugs* I personally moved up grom cutting to sticking my arm in fire, before I stopped.

I know your situation its called perpetual gothdom, get the eck outta your house, stop wearing black and meet some nice kids and have some fun. Stop dwelling on the negative aspects of being a teen and chipping into the victimze dmentality of america, be strong and stop being foolish. And stop slicing yourself up, theres no benefit to it other than you think in your mind that there is...typically people think that its a way to stop the pain mentally and enforce it physically, its all BULLSHIT. Knock it off before i tell your mother.

mine haven't...it makes going to a doctor with a baby a little awkward...
