I am not a religious person..i dont pretend to know the mysteries of the universe. I'm very discusted with most organized religions and such. But I have been born with certain abilities and I want to grow with them ..but anywhere I turn for advice on how to fine tune my abilities..I get a shit load of religious babble.

i have..
prophetic dreams
sensing others thoughts
knowing what is happening to those that are dear to me when they're not with me
sensing weird energies at different locations
willing things to happen

Most people who I've found with similar things happening to them attribute them to God blessing them..or a Wiccan spell or such.I do not buy into a bunch of mumbo jumbo. I want to find scientific and logical ways to understand these things..not a bunch of mythology and silliness. I do believe there are spirits and energies everywhere..but not in the way the Bible and such explains.

So help me..where can I go for help in my search for answers..and not get force fed God and Satan????

the scientific answer would be to start by trying to really evaluate if these are actual abilities or simply notions.

start by using the scientific method. get empirical evidence of said abilities. then go from there.

keep in mind that science is relatively unforgiving on these subjects.

added thought: i don't mean to be harsh, as you could consider someone having these skills as gifted.

however, step one might be:

ask yourself if you have these skills as opposed to:

wanting to have these skills enough that you make yourself believe you have them.

Try doing a search on parapsychology...you may find it interesting .

I dont see it as "gifted"..everybody had different abilities and talents. I did not ask for them nor thought to want them due to thinking at a young age that everyone experienced this...when I found if I spoke of it to the wrong people they spoke of "possesion" and all that crap, I was a bit discouraged from looking into it much. I do believe many people have the abitlities, but they attribute it to being touched by god or the devil. Which doesnt quite fly with me.
I'm a stubborn and logical person. I just want to understand it a bit better without all the smoke and mirrors.
What sort of proof should I seek? I dont need proof for myself or the others who are close to me that have experienced it..I just want to know WHY and HOW..and want better to understand it.

i didn't say proof, i said evidence. evidence is necessary if you are looking for objective answers. its a control point, testable in various conditions.

find something that is recurring, no matter how slight, then test it, or better, manipulate it.
otherwise, it might simply be written off as intuition or self-fulfilling-prophecies.

and anyone who comes up with "possessed" as a potential reason is clearly lacking good cognative abilities and should be slapped immediately.

Hrm, midlevel telepathy and empathy if you ask me. Try the occult/spirituality sections, wealth of info and new sensations there methinks. Wether you'll like it all is another point....

Why and how? Why... freak mutation or a right combination of genes from your parents, combined with a good, strong spirit within yourself. A good brain makes for a tool, if correctly used... you seem to have stumbled upon that way. How? Well, it's like speech, some pick it up naturally, others need to be taught. In essence it's the same concept: A form of communication.

If you are looking for simple proof: Use the scientific experiment approach. If you can actively do something that leads to a certain predetermined result, -and can repeat it-, you have something tangible to analyse.
