just let it bleed. i only use a bandaid if it's bleeding profusely, and only when notebook paper and masking or scotch or some other kind of tape is not available

What is seriously wrong with using a bandaid? If you have a bad cut you will have to use a bandaid. I see nothing wrong with using a bandaid.
