Why is it so difficult to tell when a guy likes you?

When im lusting I think im quite obvious, as are most women as we tend to bat our eyelids, giggle and simper at the things he says. (generalisation, dont take offense)

But guys- its so difficult to tell when we are more than friends to you. At the moment I am talking my men troubles over with the guy I want to date, its that difficult to read his signals.

So guys, please xplain yourselves, and any ladies who can shed some light, input much appreciated.
