LOL so ironic.
Since this place hasnt got off the ground yet a list of alternate lifestyles would help any more threads like this popping up.
I`m half expecting someone to come up with a "Its great to be a lesbian" thread. Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

Apparently from what I read of Garg's thread it could fit here without being moved. He used the examples of gothic life and college life. I am assuming he means for it to be about everything...*shrugs*
I have no clue though.

Jail life =bad. There might be some nasty stories of prison sex involved.

well if it's not a labeled lifestyle(goth, skater, punk etc...)than it doesn't count as a lifestyle(by some opinions)...those really aren't lifestyles, because once those who participate grow up and start a career they'll see to be successful they have alter their appearance for the professional world...unless they want to flip burgers their entire life...then they can pout, mope, slice and "dwell in all the youthful angst" while wondering why they never go anywhere...lifestyles define a culture, they are not a culture within themselves...so to me they are all cliques...no different than the preppies, stoners, freaks and jocks of my time...now everyone that's different has to have their own label...they just can't be....an individual. That's totally true... People who call themselves non conformists, for the most part, have just exchanged one set of cultural rules for another. You could hardly call that having an individual lifestyle... Fast Hitting Liquid Eating

Individual is a label as well, its just not considered one because of the wider range of variables attributed to it. Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

Just to reiterate a shamefully obvious little fact. Alternate: Exchange, swap, every few seconds, vary, alternating, every other, interchange.... etc.
The word alternate is used in the context of:
-The woman alternated between conventional medicine and herbal remedies for her illness.-

It seems to me that if you expect to be regarded in a certain way in life, you do have to dress a certain way...
For example, if I was to go to a business meeting dressed in my usual attire, a pair of scruffy black jeans, a delapidated denim cutoff, and a t shirt with the sleeves ripped off, I very much doubt I'd be taken seriously, however if I wore a coat and tie, as is my wont for important meetings, I'm sure I'd be taken much more seriously...
You can dress in good taste, assuming it's all done well, looks good, and is not in any way gratuitous, without compromising your identity... Fast Hitting Liquid Eating

AND you can be a very educated person and work in these job fields as well.(freelance writer, owning your own business- well depends on the business, tattoo artist- though i'm not sure if you need a whole lot of education to do that) and my list could go on. i know that you can't walk into a business meeting wearing street clothes, i may be fairly young but i'm not that naive (well at least i hope i'm not ) i'm just saying that your type of dress may vary from job to job. in fact,i'm pretty sure that fast food joints may not even hire you if you dress in goth, punk, etc. clothes. i am no longer going to come back to this site. thank for to those i care about for having me here To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Yeah, I agree with you there... I was more thinking that a lot of people, like me when I was young for that matter, feel that in dressing in a suit or whatever, they are somehow diminishng themselves and making some kind of timid surrender...
I don't think this is true at all... As a matter of fact, I like wearing suits now, provided they're black... Fast Hitting Liquid Eating
