Sexist? Cause its a request to wear a dress? Now, I could buy that if you had to wear dresses EVERY day in class, but I'm doubting that. If you have to wear them for a "concert", then I think its appropriate. You say something about "If I wanted formal...", well, a concert is kind of formal. You're not representing yourself. You're up there for the teacher, the class, the school, and then lastly, yourself. I know its shitty, but thats how it is.

The solution is simple.
I assume you opted to join this group. Hence, you opt to follow the groups policies and procedures. If you don't like their policies and/or procedures, then find another group that you can fit into, or start your own.
