Personally, i would need more information about both..
what floor are they on, are the windows open/closed/broken..

I, of course, would have to save both.. The kobiashi mouru (sp?) can be beaten..
You cant change the equation, and those questions are irrelevant.

All you need to know is that you CAN save 1 but only 1. Which do you choose?

i would most likely save both anyways..
As for the questions, they were very pertanent to the problem. I have to know things to judge what i'm doing..

Now, as to the subject of this thread..

replacing the cat is an option. But the grief you are going through is something that must happen.
Think what it would have been like for the kitten had you let it go on.

Thats not the way it works, the question is designed to make you make a choice.

thats what my Psych prof said to me..
I told him " You are asking me to decide what i would do with no information to create a visual situation in my mind. From the information available. I.E. the building on fire and the fact that i can 'see' {i must be able to to know that both are there} both entities while standing in a place that forces the decision process to occur. And if you are stating that i can only save one. there must be a reason that is so. Please create a visual image for me to use to make my decision."

He finally came to the realization that i would, inevitably, try to save both at the same time. I Passed the test in a unique way.

the point you're missing is that those details don't matter at all. It has nothing to do with location, size, height, weight, or anything. all that matters is that you can only - ONLY - save one. All it deals with is who you're rescuing, but i'm thinking that you already know all this, and are just being difficult....

you were probably one of those kids that everyone in class hated.

no cat can ever really replace her. but a friend of ours heard about Lenore passing away and told us that her boyfriends cat just had kittens and that there was one that they wanted me to have. very sweet gesture.

*sigh* i dunno, its just...the house is a lot quieter without Lenore and i can tell that poor Demon misses her. its upsetting to see him so distressed.

You named her Lenore? How goth. Losing pets sucks, but it happens. You should be prepared for that when you get one, because even if they live a full life it won't be as long as yours.

I had a dog that died from dogitis two weeks after I got her. I was crushed, but then, I discovered Nintendo, and it erased my memory. I'm not sure if that could ever happen if I lost a person that was close to me, and I'm a huuuuuge animal lover. Meh.... as a famous homosexual once sang, "It's the circle of life."

Youre right, it does. now which would you save? your pet or the old stranger? you can only pick one. Failure to choose means youre a retard and are being obstinate.

im aware that cats dont live as long as humans but at the same time, i wasnt expecting her to die at less than a year old. it just doesnt seem fair. (and before you say it, yeah i know, life isnt fair)

and as for her name, shes named for my fave comic book drawn by Roman Dirge.

hmm, losing a pet or family member sucks, but i have to agree with Billy on this on. My dog is on his death bed, and it is me who is fighting to have him put down, then let him continue the pathertic life my parents are making him live. You did what was best for the cat, and she had a short but probably a good life. Leave it at that and be happy she didn't have a long hard life. We all lose people or pets we care about, but life has to come to and end for all of us, you either grief for a period and ove on, or you destroy yourself with the continued grief.

As to Billy's question, saving yourself is the top priority and saving either the pet or the man comes to to many questions that your question does ot answer. Either way here is my answer, If i am ever in that situation and I have the choice, i'll let you know what I decided.

You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

i know that it was best for her to be put down, rather than continue on in pain. i always consider quality of life over quantity. im sure that in time it will be easier to understand and deal with it, but for now, its tough. im still in a grieving period.

im sure i wont grieve forever. hell, since posting this thread, ive been feeling better.

but then again, other things like shopping for an urn for her ashes...that just sucks.

I think that when pets are dying, it is cruel not to get them put down. This guy at my work has this really old dog that is deaf and blind and pisses everywhere. He brought it to work and it pissed in my office...He refuses to put it down though, coz it was was his wife's dog and she has passed away.

have you seen my marbles?

Sorry to hear about your kitten
Sometimes it's best to euthanise, but it doesn't make it any less painful.
Some people find it overreacting or whatever to grieve for a pet, well, that is their way, good thing no one is the same.
As for me, my pets are my best friends, they don't stab me in the back, they are true, and I bonded with them since day one when I first saw them, they deserve to be grieved over.
I can understand that's how it was for you too with Lenore.

Maybe after a while you can think, there is now a spot open in our house...Lenore would want it to be taken by a kitten who also needs a good home :-)

yeah well ill obviously get over it eventually.

and yes we may get another kitten someday. but no, we wont be naming it after her. a new kitten wont ever replace my Lenore and i wont name it as such.

it isnt like replacing a toy that breaks.
