| Just Wondering? (Girly Question) -
08-12-02
I have sort of a petty question when you consider all the "I like pain" and "what's wrong with me?" threads around here. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask it and maybe get everyone's minds off their problems around here.
I was wondering what the girls around here (and maybe guys) think is the best method for hair removal. I don't like shaving and everything else looks scary. When I shave it only lasts for about a day and I tend to cut myself often (although I got a new Venus razor and that helps). I've tried Nair, but that burns and smells bad (like burning hair oddly enough) and didn't work anyway! I have even recently tried lotions that claim to help make your legs smooth and get you shaving less often... of course these claims are false.
I've never tried anything else and before I do I was wondering if anyone knows any good methods or has someone tried Nads (I always laugh when I hear about that on TV) because I would like to know.
Thanks | |

Stick your finger in a light socket... It'd be like a MASSIVE electrolosis! All your fuckin' hair'll fall right off! And ya know what? It'll only hurt for maybe 5 seconds and then it's over. Anywho!

since i'm fair haired, i shave and it lasts for a week or so. i'd say the best way would be waxing. i know it looks REALLY scary and sounds terribly painful, but in the end it's the best way. all in all it's not that painful, only for a second when they rip the wax off. it's sorta like getting your ears pierced... it hurts for only a sec. and it leaves you smooth for a lot longer because it takes the entire folical out with it.

Personally, I shave. I hate it but I guess I'm just too lazy to try anything else. It works pretty well since I have relatively fine hair but I still end up having to shave every couple of days.
love me

Can I get this moved to Fashion? Please?
I just shave. I'm blonde and don't really farm a lot of hair, so shaving is the perfect solution for me.
As for Nads, I've only heard good things. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. I fucked Vincent Price

I used to shave, but lately I became so irritated with how often you need to do this, and it comes back itching and stubbly, I didn't want that anymore so I just went ahead and tried wax...first I tried waxed strips of Veet (strips with cold wax on it already, this was BAD...the wax wasn't warm so not all hairs came out and some broke off and I had to shave anyway. It hurt too.
Now I use a pot of Veet oriental wax, which you heat up in the microwave.
And Nair cotton strips, they work the best in my experience.
Apply some wax, push a strip on it and go for it.
Works great, all the hair gone in one pull, and warm/hot wax doesn't hurt really.
The first time it's a bit scary, but then you don't even really feel it anymore.
My friend is afraid to pull the strips off herself, so I always wax her too *lol*
If you think you'll be afraid to pull off the strips, make sure that the first time youtry this, you have a friend around, because otherwise it will be messy trying to take it off without removing hair ;-)
When you're done you can wash the cotton strips under the hot water and the wax dissolves, dry the strips and re-use them several times. "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." - Mahatma Ghandi

Oh and it doesn't take much time, only the first time ofcourse when all is new and scary ;-)
I do it myself because I refuse to pay a lot of money to go someplace and have a stranger do it for me.
I do my legs, armpits and bikiniline (bikiniline only, not the rest ;-) ) with Veet oriental wax. http://www.veet.co.uk/products_waxes...ts_waxes.shtml "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." - Mahatma Ghandi

No idea, but there must be _some_ who do that ;-)
How do they do that in a "beautyparlor" where people go to get waxed....
Porn stars surely don't shave...I think they wax...? "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." - Mahatma Ghandi

I can shave and then be like hair free for a week....I dont mind shaving. I used to Nair but i cant do that anymore cuz if just alil touches my scar on my knee, i will literally feel like my knee skin is burning off and it hurts like a BITCH. So even if i dont put it in that area...it still gets hit with some when rinsing it off...So i threw all that out. Fuck that.
I'd never do waxing..hell no. I've tried those lotions and they are bullshit. So i just stick to the good old shaving.
There really isnt much ya can do...its just one of those things apart of life that sucks.
I just stick to shaving and then lotion after. Works for me.

Okay, I'm fair so it doesn't give me any bother so maybe that's why I feel that in our society we think we must do this to be attractive. Italian men find hair erotic and so something in me always balks at the whole concept that we have to still put ourselves through pain and anguish to conform to some fuckin societal standard of beauty. If suddenly 'hair' was the 'way to go' all this would be bullshit.

Oh wait, It's not like I wax to conform to somesort of fashion norm or whatever
No....I do this because it makes me feel more clean and comfortable

I'd say I started shaving because it's the norm. It's what girls do here. However, after having done it for about 17 years know, I'd have to agree with eresh and say it just makes me more comfortable to be shaved rather than unshaved. Don't Drink and Park.
