It's spring over there? We're still buried under over a foot of snow, go look at my backyard thread in photography when you get a chance. |

You're barely an hour away!
That's what I love about this country, one side of a hill it can be a blizzard, the other side, not. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

No, it's weather. And geography.
There's valley in Wales that traps clouds, it rains on average 360 days a year. Cheery. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I think the whole of Canada looks amazing from the pictures I've seen. Sort of a real mix between city and wilderness.

I went out hiking through the woods yesterday afternoon. I wound up in someones backyard and just by chance it turned out that a best friend of mine who I hadn't seen in years was living there. So that was great. de vagorum ordine dico vobis iura

Ha weird!! how far did you hike?
If you ended up in someone's backyard here, you would have to walk at least - a meter!! Then you would probably be koshed around the head with a broomstick..

Lately, when I hike out there I don't really care what direction I'm going, I just try ot head towards open areas and see where I am. One of the times I did that I think I must have gone over the mountain becasue I ended up behind an old farm-house and I had no idea where I was, I didn't realize I had gone so far but I must have.
I didn't stick around to ask where I was though.
I was trying to find that area again to see if there was a road nearby, just to help get my bearings, I ended up walking way out towards the mountains and back towards the curve of my road. So I ended up coming out in someones backyard a ways down my street.
As I carefully walked through their yard to the road, someone called to me from the front door. I immediately wondered how they knew my name. Much to my surprise it was a friend of mine I had lost touch with a while ago. He invited me in, we sat around and got a little caught up on what we had both been doing and drove back to my house and chatted there for a while until he had to go.
It's great to be back in touch with him, he's one of the coolest people in the entire town besides me. de vagorum ordine dico vobis iura

That's really cool!! you know - you have a wonderful talent for telling stories? I can imagine everything you're saying in pictures
I once tried to 'get lost' in the woods near my house, me and a friend from college decided to head out in any direction, through bramble and bracken. We ended up on a grassy hill and just lay down and looked up at the sky.. I'll never forget that, it was just so easy, so relaxed.
Anyway, once we decided to get up and find home, turns out we were near the local park, had only walked about 2 miles! haha!

Hmm . . . With nothing but trees for miles around theres really no point in getting lost, it's nice but monotonous. Hence why I am trying to find the limits of the forest. It's kind of creepy how when I get to certain areas it looks like there is a clearing ahead because the trees decrease in height and thin out their ranks slightly as the ground gets swampier.
So it becons you on as you look at the blue sky over the tops of the shorter trees and you think that there must be a clearing ahead. But there never is, just more of the forest. Then you look ahead again and it looks as if the trees are going to break and there will be an open area ahead. You know it's probably the same trick being played upon you. But you forge ahead anyway, just to see what is there.
Then you realize that it is starting to get dark out, not only that, you also feel as if you are being watched . . . You here a branch crack but it could just be a bird. However, the third time it happens you see a tree branch swinging from side to side where something has passed. So you decide to head back but all the trees look the same. You can't recognize any of your signs or terrain features that you may have passed. You start to get worried . . .
This far out, no one even hears your screams. And the forest always and eternal, silently devours your remains. de vagorum ordine dico vobis iura
