I've only been a member for a couple of days so I'm a little late on things. I totally agree with the whole Christan criticism. My parents are Catholic and they are afraid of us. They think we will eat their intestines and slaughter them.

Of course they feel this way about us. I have to go to church every week(it is hell). There is one thing that gets me laughing about it. The priests don't know shit about gothic people. They believe we are emotion-less hateful creatures who aren't humans.

All through my grade school life I had to go through hearing about all of this garbage about us. I had to go to a catholic school for 10 years of pre-school-eith grade. They aren't the perfect religion as they so claim. They hate every other religion and think they are the ultimate and all powerful.

They segregate all who oppose them. If anyone is trying to take over the world, it is them. They also rape little kids, wtf is that about.

Yeah, watch that. This is the part where I usually mention that you mean DEVOUT Christians, I'm sure. Because I'm Catholic and you could ask Dri, I do not judge that way or think that way, etc. You're acting like the people who you don't like because of the way they act.

You know why people hate us(and not everyone does)?
Because they fear us. Whenever i go places, i get the smart ass remarks SOMETIMES....(alot of good remarks too)....but i can tell the idiot's remarks are tainted with nervousness. In Australia, alot of people actually find us scary, which is damn cool! Also, the fact that often i get the remarks only after they've gotten at least a hundred metres clear of me.
I once asked a girl out, and she refused because she said she was scared of me....and you know what? It actually made me feel better than if she said yes! (i'm strange, don't worry)
Fear is a compliment, and also an aphrodisiac.

But yeah, fear can be fun (and funny). Dunno. My girlfriend isn't scared of me...but we're a lot alike anyway.

It gets funny...like when I wore the all-black getup to the NHS induction. Got a lot of "Who died?" said to me....oh well. They don't get it.

I'm an Athiest(or Free Thinker they'd call it here in SIngapore). And in Singapore there ain't alotta Goths around. So much about Goths I do not know of. Chritstian Goth? Something I've never came across my whole life. I'd like to know more if anyone would like to let me have the honour.

This whole Goth impression thing to me, is like the daker side of a human. They are the one whos not afraid to show what they have(not literally of course *snickers*). They're honest and thruthful most of the time than the so called "non-Gothic". COuld that be one thing that they are feared? Truth can be scary *grin* And I think black/dark makeups and all are just a way of being indentified like a Preist would dress as a preist, a hollywood star would dress as a star. Okay I'm not exactly sure if thats the right of putting my thoughts across(i'm not exactly good with words).

But thats just what I know of Goths. I could always look up information on the websites but I know they could be craps and well yea... I wanna hear it from a Goth themselves.

If in anyway at all I might have offended anyone, I apologise. I'm ignorant when it comes to stuffs like this.

Yeah, I do like your point about clothing. It's not necessary or anything like that, but it can make a good identifier. Something I wish more people would realize.

here's the lowdown on what i think personally on this one...

people fear what they can't understand (or anything that is not like them). in this fear, they begin to hate to protect their insecurities. and within this hating, they feel negative and less, therefore they want to destroy. this is the mere beginning of the conformity wars and whatnot.

devout christians have issues. they fear us because we have an open mind... that we are different and we can see the truth in a less distorted fashion then they can. those are the ones that are the persecuters... the demand for submission into their "cult". and that's what i'm convinced most of "organized religion" is. a damned cult! *sigh* i would say more, but my brain is melting at the moment...

I'm Christian. You know that. I do, however, agree that organized religion seems akin to a cult. Thats why I'm non-denominational.

When I'm going to work, dressed in a suit, collar and tie, everyone I pass gives me friendly nods and looks of approval...

And yet when they see me in my less than formal attire I wear to go about my business, and it isn't even particularly outrageous, black jeans, a leather bikers jacket with tassles, and a T-shirt with the sleeves cut off, and an assortment of earrings, breacelets and rings, many of the same people don't recognise me, and look straight ahead, being careful not to make eye contact...

I am the same person on both occasions... I am not an unfriendly or ignorant man... Very strange...

Because they fear what they don't understand. That's just always been the way that things have operated, no matter how unfair. People can't see past outward appeareances, and that's where problems start.

Tribal instincts... 50,000 years ago, if you were approached by a man in strange garb, there was a very real chance he might be out to plunder and pillage your land and get up to all sorts of nastiness...
