I live by my own morals. Not by those imposed on me by people I have never and will never meet. That's not to say I'm a sinful person. I don't cheat, I refrain from hurting others. I don't lie, I very rarely kill - the last thing I have killed purposefully in a long time is a cockroach I found in our kitchen.

I've heard that a more accurate transatlion of "Thou shalt not kill" is "Thou shalt not murder". I don't speak ancient Hebrew, but that makes more sense, so no I don't think roach stompin' would send one to Hell. I think there should be a commandment to wipe out those nasty things.

Alpha, thank you for your thoughts. I can tell you aren't a hard core Christian (or, it sounds like, a Christian at all) though , because the responses to those arguments are pretty straight forward.

A recent event showed me that Christianity cannot be proven to be anything more than a matter of interperetation It has a lot to offer (peace, joy, community), but one can't prove that all that is based in anything real. Any believer in any religion has to face that at some time. It's difficult for me to proceed, knowingly basing my worldview on something uncertain, while being a pragmatist about normal matters.

I still think you don't need religion to act or be fundamentally good. I am good! And my boyfriend isn't religious and he's even gooder than me. He's sponsored child for goodness sakes and he's gone the last 3 days without lunch because he's too poor.

You don't have to answer Inky, because it is a personal issue, but have you had sex before? It makes you feel nice and with the right person is awesome...I don't think God would have created sex so that you could abstain. Not trying to be or anything...

That's one thing that annoys me with religions that are very old, is that the translations are often inaccurate. They change the rules when they feel like it.

It wasn't very long ago, at a Vatican Council when they suddenly decided that stillborn babies didn't go to purgatory after all. Did God change his mind or something??? Does that mean stillborn babies NEVER went to purgatory or was there a cut off date and if you were a stillborn baby before that date, well hard luck!

Haha. I don't even make MYSELF lunch! Wake up too late...only time for a shower, get dressed and I'm out the door. No time for breakfast let alone making lunch! That's cute though. He's welcome to eat goat cheese for lunch, but it's not my cheese to give.

I could give him money for lunch (and I have in the past), but why should I? I love him and all, but we're both working fulltime, we have our own money.

I don't think I'd ever get rid of my own bank account either. You can have a joint account as a couple, but swap your own account for a joint one and you get problems I think.

Oh I just read apostate's post again (near the top) I can't believe I missed the fact he's ONLY 18 when I first read it. 18 is not past your prime! Are you serious or just kidding? I didn't have sex UNTIL I turned 18, so if that was my prime then....well is it all downhill from then???? I'm also very sorry that I suggested a hooker for an 18 year old. That's disgusting. I started at 14 and I wish I had waited although I stayed with the guy for 3 years after I still wished I had waited till I was 16 so I could have made smarter decisions. I’ve only had 2 partners though and with the recent HPV outbreak on campus I’m glad I’m not easy.

I'd rather have quality then quantity. Having a lot of sex isn't really that important to me (that is coming from a girl whose boyfriend lives 4 hours away 6 months out of the year so lots of sex really isn't an option for me) but having GOOD sex is important to me. Lots of bad sex or a little GREAT sex. Think about it.
