I'd like to introduce myself. I am a horror writer. I am currently working on a book about a writer who has a sucessful series of books about a serial killer known as the Tattooer. He derived this name because after he kills his victims, he then Tattoos somewhere on their bodies how he murdered them. For example if he decapatates them, he might tattoo that on their back or chest, etc. What the police don't know is that he also tattoos the crime on a part of his body as well. Anyway getting back to the concept. This writer has written three books about this maniac, she calls DOOMSDAY. The Police and the media call him the Tattooer, however she is tired of the character and she decides it is time to kill him off. As she is writing about his demise, people around her start getting killed, eventually leading her to believe that DOOMSDAY has leaped off the pages of her book and refuses to be killed. The endind is awsomely shocking and I will not give it away. so the guy hauls all of this equipment around with him... 
...kills someone, pulls out all of this equipment, sets up shop and then does a 7 hour back piece describing why his victim doesn't have a head?

From what I got, he doesn't describe the scene, or situation, he just writes the word "decapitation " on the body.... I don't think it'd be that long to do that, especially if he doesn't want it to look good.... a few minutes max.
Also, don't think he would be sanitizing the equipment, or using color ink, so there is some saved materials

a sharpie isn't as permanent as a Tattoo eventually that ink comes off, but Tattoos are for the most part permanent, unless you get them removed by a lazer or something. I think you're missing the point of the story. Death is permanent and the killers point is that, not only does he want to remember his killings, but he wants to share them with the whole world to see | |

but skin is not permanent, lol, definitely not after death, so the tattoo won't be either, unless the killer embalms his victims.

i'm just wondering about the idea of whether a tattoo would work on a dead person...
the actual act of cutting someone and then dying the wound that is...
surely someone would have to be alive and have their blood flowing for that to work?
a dead person doesn't cut like a living one.
