Hello.
My name's Eric. I saw this place, it seemed interesting, and I thought I'd give this place a check.
I'm from British Columbia, Canada.
I'm currently in college, working to become a major in computer science, I specialize in computer security.
I'm a programmer as a hobby, and I play paintball. I'm also a beginner in Karate.
Politically I'm far-left/moderate-left. I'm also rather skeptical.
My favorite authors include Robert Ludlum, Douglas Adams, Aldous Huxley, and a few other random authors here and there.
So. Hi. | |

I'm just a beginner, so you could probably teach me more than I could. I'm having a good time at it though. I did some stuff with Tae Kwon Do and Krav Maga when I was younger, so sparring becomes really interesting when I pull things from that instead of the Karate course. I get yelled at for it, but it's worth it.

Yeah. I'm lucky and caught a break through the college I'm going too. (They charge $10 per quarter for Karate).

Yeah. I figured I'd at least find one person who hangs to the left. If not, I can debate. For days.

Someone find Zelos a muzzle.
Arch, welcome, you'll find a lot of stupid comments here, and a lot of people who will shoot you for your opinions... it can be harsh at times, just remember fight fair, and use your intelligence.
I'm guessing when you say Huxley, are you talking about brave new world? Or have you read some of his other works? Homer: Ah he has all the money in the world. But you know what he can't buy? Marge: What is that Homy? Homer: *Thinks* A Dinosaur!!!

Yes, and when you shoot people down, or get shot down, remember to shake hands afterwords.
Speaking of brave new world, I've always wanted to read that book AND see that movie. Ive read the book "1984" but never seen the movie... either of you read that book?

Read them both twice.... You will find that since you read 1984 first, you'll find that Brave New World is not as interesting, but if you read Brave New World first, then you tend to enjoy that one more. Just remember, that Brave New World came out about 16 before 1984.
My personal opinion, I enjoyed 1984 more, but some like Brave New World more. Homer: Ah he has all the money in the world. But you know what he can't buy? Marge: What is that Homy? Homer: *Thinks* A Dinosaur!!!

I haven't read much of Huxley, but I've managed to get Point Counterpoint down (That was hard), Brave New World, and Island down.
A lot of people may shoot me down for my opinions, but they will be pleasantly, or unpleasantly surprised, to find I have ammunition of my own.

So what's up with your signature... out of nothing? Homer: Ah he has all the money in the world. But you know what he can't buy? Marge: What is that Homy? Homer: *Thinks* A Dinosaur!!!

It's a phrase that has it's own connotation to me. For me, it's a reminder of where we've come from, and where we are going to go. If you've sen Monty Python's Life of Brian, then the idea comes from the song "Always look on the bright side", where Mr. Frisbee says, "I mean, what you got to lose? You know, you come from nothing. You're going back to nothing. What have you lost? Nothing! Nothing will come from nothing. You know what they say?".

Howdy!
Which college are you attending and how far are you from getting that degree in computer security? Pain is Nature's way of saying "At least your still alive!"

I'm a pretty private person, so please don't take offense if I don't tell you which one I'm attending.
I'm working towards my masters in security.
