Solar panels unless broken intentionally will operate according to quality anywhere from 3 through 25 years and can be easily repaired with something as simple as a soldering iron. The best solar modules can last 30 years plus. That is a long long time. Time enough to fire up a power station if you have to
A shotgun would be great and should be added to any collection as should a large caliber rifle with scopes. Maybe throw in a small revolver to wear on your ankle A larger knife would be a good idea as well. Maybe even a sword.... save your bullets when you can

LOL And I can spin wool and use a loom as well! Did the shearing before 'Ol guy was butchered.. Then, gotta love mom's, had to clean/cart/spin the wool. Without any modern tools.. cept for the shearing part. Got to use a razor for that.

Interesting discussion between the two of you. I agree that we are quick to grab guns. I also agree that a sharp mind "would" know how to think around a situation. For example...New Orleans...a sharp mind would of got the fuck out on time.

A sharp mind would also go way beyond just securing a big gun. If you don't have a paranoid old uncle or someone who lives in a shack in the middle of the woods on a family commune of several hundred acres, make friends with someone who does. Always have an isolated place to get the fuck out of the city fast. Then you can sit back plan prepare, reproduce, and watch the fireworks between the big guns from your mountain top...and when they get too close, break out the grenades. Just Joking...kind of.

Quick action is important though, if the shits hit the fan, I'm getting the fuck out quick.
