WW1, and WW2 games - 12-29-03

Has anyone played Medal of Honor, Call of Duty or Battlefield 1942? If so, what in your opinion is the best out of these games? I have played the demo for Call of Duty and I have to say i think the game was great to play with.

Also, does anyone know of any FPS style games based on WW1?

You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

I've only played Battlefield 1942 but I enjoyed it quite alot, well I enjoyed 1942 mainly because of just the sheer size of it, and the freedom of battle. Like sniping while the rest of your allies fight bravely in battle, and the vehicles aren't bad either.

i really like Call of Duty... squadmates who actually SUPPORT you... machine guns with sniper scopes... objectives that are fairly reasonable...

I don't particularly understand the appeal of these games outside the first-person shooterness. I enjoy CS and Halflife/Unreal/Quake, but what is it about these particular games that is so enjoyable?

historical reinactment? with Quake and Halflife, it's all about fantastic locales, weapons, and lifeforms... with Period shooters, it's more about the realism.

I suppose so. If it's for the realism, then game developers had better make damn sure that they don't make any errors with the arms/storylines etc.
