Capcom(great fighting games)
Blizzard(great strategy games)
Jast(great hentai games)
Square(great RPG's)

ok, here's my top companies in no particular order:

Looking Glass Studios - their games all were very atmospheric and good in general. they joined with Ion Storm now, the team that is responsible for Deus Ex, another one of my favs. Games: Thief 1, 2, System Shock 1, 2, Ultima Underworld 1, 2.

Black Isle Studios - this studio is responsible for making best CRPGs ever (at least in my opinion ). Games: Planescape: Torment (my fav), Fallout 1, 2.

Bioware - another great RPG maker from Canada. Games: Baldur's Gate 1, 2, Neverwinter Nights

Blizzard Entertainment - every game they make is a hit, that's simple. Games: Warcraft 1, 2, 3, Starcraft, Diablo 1, 2.

Ion Storm - they were two parts of this company. one sucked (the one that released Daikatana), the other made good games. Games: Deus Ex, Anachronox. Projects in development - Deus Ex 2, Thief 3.

Sir-Tech - another great company from Canada. Games: Wizardry series (8 games), Jagged Alliance 1, 2

I`ll add Bullfrog :not much cool stuff nowadays, but some real classics such as magic carpet, dungeon keeper and the game with one of the best stories ever : syndicate wars

Hmm, i think id Software should definetely have been on the list. Not much good from them now, but they certainly have made several revolutions in action games. Games: Wolfenstein 3D, Doom 1, 2, Quake 1, 2, 3.

I'll say Capcom for their fighting games and for resident evil and breath of fire

Squaresoft for it's kick-ass RPG's and it's experimenting games (you have never seen an RPG/Racing game... and squaresoft pulled out that one)

and Konami for it's BEMANI series (Guitar Freaks, Dance Dance Revolution, Drum Mania, Para Para Dancing, Dance Freaks, DJ mania etc...)

Yeah definitely ! I completely forgot about them.

Speaking of those games, I suppose 3d realms should be there for duke nukem 3d, despite the fact that I dislike the game

Oh well, i guess there's some more to add.

Westwood Studios. What id Software made for action genre, Westwood made for real-time strategies, starting with Dune 2 and continuing with Command & Conquer series. And they made quite a few other good games...

And then, there's definetely old good Microprose with games like Civilization, X-COM, etc. And X-COM 1, 2, 3 are among my favourite games of all time.

Obviously my lack of sleep affected my brain. I can`t think of any other explanation for forgetting westwood, seeing how I`ve probably played about as much with westwood games in my life as all other games combined

Square is one of the best, and bullfrog makes great sim games.

SNK is good...as u can prolly tell...i like arcade fighters

GOD Games was only a publisher. Nocturne was actually developed by Terminal Reality.

And about V:tM Redemption... Personally, I think that Nihilistic screwed almost everything they could about the game. The game had huge potential, but the result was simply terrible. Biggest disappointment ever. Everything that WAS good in the game came from original V:tM by White Wolf.
