What's your favourite genre of computer game?

X-Wing crossed with UT?
Civilisation crossed with Baldurs Gate?...
i think crossovers are possible, but i also think that as technologies deepens, so will the genres evolve into newly allowed territory... pehaps RTS games that allow u to coordinate from above and once a battle plan is set u can go headlon into the action (didnt mech commander try to do that? i dont know i never played it?)... or smarter RPGs where every action u make influences the final out come... time based missions where if u dont make it to a castle in enough time (by leveling so u will be a god compared to the boss) then the critical point has passed and u cant save the kingdom.

"But this is America, where we unapologetically bastardize other countries' cultures in a gross quest for moral and military supremacy." L.G.
I think as far as RPGs are concerned they should make the whole process of levelling more interesting.. in some sick way I find levelling fun (Like spending days on end in the sunken ship think in FF7 trying to get all the limit breaks), but there should be more to endless battles with monsters
Truely dynamic progress in things like RPGs is possible but there's always the same old bottleneck - technology can advance but it's still the same size, same skilled teams doing the work and the tools need to get very advanced to make any real progress in that area
I know for a fact that there's a FPS/Space combat sim/RTS game in the pipeline that looks interestng and can't wait to see it out

Lucasarts as a quality developer seem to have died a death - Considering they were one of the most respected game developers in the world it's a real pity - X-Wing alliance was brilliant, though not as much fun as the original.. i'd like to see something from them that took X--Wing a lot further than just rehashing the same formula - Winning though it was
Rogue Squadron was the FMV thing that they did just as CD was getting popular wasn't it?
Yeah, it was varied but limited, and the problem with stretching over that many playsyles is that none of them get finished fully, or even feature enough in the game individually to really be worth honing your skills at. Every style needs programming, and especially in 3D games they need their own 3D models, levels etc, each style could need a whole different new technology for certain aspects of them all by themselves

i think the fmv thing u were reffering to was Rebel Assault... the Rogue Squadron bit im talking about was a series of X-wing books that displayed a wide array of gaming possibilities...

Ahh yeah.. rogue squadron was the behind view game yeah?
Never read the books - Not really the sort of stuff I read
I'd like to see some good RPGs come out soon, it's been very dry recently - Last one I played to completion was Baldurs Gate 2
I want to see games that were in the same style as Ultima 8 and 9.. top down isometric and full 3D respectively - Games to watch out for in that respect I gu4ess would be Pools of Radiance and Morrowind - Follow up to Daggerfall and The Eldar Scrolls: Arena
Daggerfall was brilliant

RPG`s. I`d like to see a DC comics RPG with some good sub-games added on.
Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.
