not a big fps fan but gears of war might just get me to buy an xbox. I am more of a strategy or rpg guy, but most of the new rpgs are internet based and I have neither the time nor the desire to pay a subscription fee.

I got THe Battle for Middleearth 2 a few weeks ago. While not being as strategic as Rome Total War, its still a really fun game to play. And if you dont want to play the more action oriented campaigns you can play the "war of the ring" part of the game which is a turn based RPG system in which you see a large map and you have to make troops and fortifications and raise heros and all that. It was sorta like a really super updated version of Gemfire IMO.

Its worth a look.

I think Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars will be a dissapointment. I really liked Tiberian Sun. I also like Starcraft as well. It's old but hell of a game. I found Battle For Middle Earth to be a nice change from all the others.

two friends and i get together alot to play starcraft across a home network.

we're now pwning on brood war, on which the AI is that little bit tougher.

though recently, we just tend to play WoW together on the network.
