If you play any half life mods, you should be well aware of this. It will be in effect in about a week, with the next update. It replaces connecting to servers usng a WON ID, and offers services such as a more navigable search, and a buddy list. The big downer is the downloading....you have to download new clients for each mod when using the Steam program. And as an added bonus, these files are in the 3-digit (M sizes, too (have fun with dialup for you stoneage internet users out there). What are your thoughts on this, and any more information on this would be appreciated too (unless you're a narc, then don't waste my time.)

I definately hate it. But there's not much I can do about it. This is one dial-up person who is most definately screwed. Luckily, there are enough of my friends who play often enough and have broadband that we can set up a dedicated server for our use...

Or, of course, I could have them download it and then burn it for me...It all works out, that's how I got the 1.5 upgrade...

It seems to go faster nowadays though, I could actually play CS 1.6!
It's buggy as fuck though, and I can't believe a company like valve, with those awesome Half-Life 2 physics, could write crap like this. But oh well.

all i play is tfc really (if you couldn't tell from my avatar) and steam is a TOTAL BITCH. A lot of the servers are down and I can't play at all now.
