if its the older one, i suggest opening it out and taking a compressor to it. make sure its nice and clean and if possible, clean off the contacts with some alcohol wipes, or isopropyl alcohol and cotton ear buds. i've had ps2s come up with some really wierd problems, and all they need are a good clean.
also, make sure the laser lens and system is seated properly. a common ps2 problem is that the laser lens and system rise up, causing big problems, including scraping your discs. you can tell when this is starting to happen because you can see concentric circles in your game discs, which will progessively get worse.
i don't really know all too much about the slimline ps2s, so i can't really suggest much other than possibly a lens cleaner disc, which will have little brushes on a cd. if you can get one and use those, that'd be great.
i would if any other games were doing it... it is just the ratchet and clank games... i think my PS2 is a second gen big one

i did think about that, but yeah... its worth doing to a ps2 anyway really in my view. the giant hole at the bottom is just a massive dust collector. and pointless in my view. makes me wonder why it was made as such.
well other than cleaning the console and the disc, your other option is -
take the game back to a shop, and get a replacement disc.
if you don't have a receipt or the store is gone or something, find somewhere selling an identical one, buy a new one, and take the old one back in the box for a refund.

careful with that. some game stores take full information on customers with returns and inventory their systems by serial number. so unless you fake your info and are willing to not go to that specific store again, try not to go to chain stores like Gamestop(where i work)/EB games, Gamecrazy and the like.

it is every ratchet and clank game...not just one...the system is clean and has been cleaned out... i was wondering if it was something they put in the game or well...btw, every other game i put in there works perfectly... it is just ratchet and clank and going commando...guess i'll wait amnd see when i get up your aresenal

careful with that. some game stores take full information on customers with returns and inventory their systems by serial number. so unless you fake your info and are willing to not go to that specific store again, try not to go to chain stores like Gamestop(where i work)/EB games, Gamecrazy and the like.
over here, some of the staff suggest such a thing in some game stores. theyre gamers themselves so would do the same thing if they had a problem.
i dont know crypt, i really don't know. perhaps ratchet and clank games on the ps2 really do just suck. maybe theyre bad ports.
