Picked this game up roughly a week ago, and damn, I'm glad I did. Here's my short story...

After lazily walking around the wall to the various few stores that sell games, I've come to realize that the market for gaming is quite stagnant. Its all the same shit, rehashed in a new box, with a real half assed story line behind it. Everything new I've played on an older system. So I turned to PC games, cause I've come to like my PC far more than consoles.

So I broke it down to 3 games. Manhunt, Hitman 3, or Neverwinter Nights. Since I've found both Hitmans on the net for free download, I dissed that one off first. And I also have enough shooting games in my life (UT2003/4, Counter-Strike, and TFC), I opted for Neverwinter Nights.

Now this is a wicked game. It makes quite a leap from the likes of Baulder's Gate II or Planscape: Torment. To me, its a mixture of three. Baldur's Gate II, Diablo II, and EQ. Its crazy. But good crazy.

Storyline is a bit hard to follow, but aside from that its a wonderful game. Quite big, complex, and with enough variaitions in character choices to play it a few times and never have to use the same "tactics".

Me and a few are going to LAN this game tonight (Cause its quicker than net and we're able, Geek pride!) so I'll know more about how well that works tonight. Looks most promising though.

So my question(s) to others...

Would you be interested in playing it over the net with a few others? (Myself and some friends off of here).

i do like the game, i just don't seem to play it to much. tried on online game one night, and had this jackass walk up and kill me

I think i'll reinstall this one.. Haven't played it for ages...

I still play this game all the time-- just hard to find any good online games-- so I download Mods all the time-- Ravenloft Mod is a good one. There are a couple Mods built from Old D&D scenarios that kick ass. The Pool Of Radiance make over is great too.

I am playing HOU right now with a lvl 10 Fighter Level 11 Blackguard wielding two Bastard Swords-- one is a +3 and the other is a bloodsucking fiend of a mofo hehe-- it sucks life from your target and transfers it to you

I am wearing +4 Full Plate and a bunch of other goodies-- remember when you start HOU you start with CRAP all of your stuff is stolen-- and I did not cheat myself any gold I just started up with nothing but my 21 Lvl character

hmm, i am waiting for a couple of mods to come out that i have read about. the are doing dragonlance mod for it and can be seen at www.dladventures.com and i have read the someone is trying to a Pool of Radiance 3 with this engine as well.

Also I would suggest cheating you stats-- IE STR DEX etc etc... because in original D&D you rolled your statsyou did not have some stupid point system--- only drawback of a good game here is thier stupid point system--- but you can get past that by cheating your stats from a set of rolled stats that you physically roll however you would like-- I use 4D6 and drop the lowest die.

cheating is really simple---
~ is the cheat key right up next to your 1 on a keyboard-- you hit ~DebugMode 1 and than hit enter and you will be in cheat mode which is just as easy to turn off--- ~DebugMode and hit enter and it is off... it is actually a DM Tool for DM'd games.

Than you hit

SetSTR 18 if you wanted strength at 18 and so forth and so on just remember that if you have a race that has a stat bonus it will figure it in-- like HalfOrcs get a +2 to STR so plugging in what I typed would make your STR a 20

Dragonlance is quite an undertaking. I hope they finish it

A new game-- a total conversion called Witchery--- will be coming out soon using the Aurora Engine from NWN which should be kinda cool as well.

well it looks like they still are working on it. one game i was dissappointed to her that it got canned was warhammeronline.

yeah that sux. Microsoft is afraid to compete with Sony in the online PC world which is kinda funny

At least Warcraft is still a go.

I've heard of this game and seen it a few times, but never actually played it. I'ma check it out.

Eh...I got my fill of Warcraft with the second one (Come on, we all played that, Starcraft, and Diablo to worn down finger numbs), so I'm not terribly interested in playing it online.

I know there are more than a few modules out for NWN, but I've just got the game, so I'm yet to play any of those. Unfortunately, with this damn full-time job (Which is where I am at now), its hard to sit down for a good few hours and play.

The Ravenloft and Dragonlance ones sound good though. I enjoy both of those campaigns. It'd be kool to see a good Planescape one too (I was kinda disapointed in Planescape: Torment).

Its a first person/third person perspective game where you play only one character in a warcraft environment-- nothing like the actual games

I dunno. An MMORPG of Warcraft? That game really didn't have enough of a storyline to me to warrant an RPG title.
