Xbox 360 Demo kiosks have shown up at Wal-mart. So I got to play with one for damn near an hour last night.
First the Positives:
1. The controller is pure SEX! It just melts in your hands, I don't see how Sony or Nintendo can beat how great this controller feels. Every button feels like it's meant to be there. The face buttons are made of a better material and not as bulbous as the Xbox 1 buttons(which can wear down the tip of yor finger with extended playtime.)
2. Kameo is simply A-M-A-Z-I-NG. Probably the only next-gen looking game on display. If you're getting a 360 this fall this game should be very high on your want list.
3. The media "blades" and XBL interface are really slick and intuitive.
4. COD2 had breathtaking particle and smoke effects. The effect from a smoke bomb will make your jaw drop.
The Negatives:
1. The LCD display was clearly not calibrated correctly or was very cheap because the quality of the graphics suffered a lot. Colors were over saturated and everything had a blurry look to it. So details weren't able to jump out at you like they do on HD videos that we've seen on our PCs.
2. COD2 is almost an embarressment(besides the effects). Looks no better than current PC games.
3. All the videos were old as fuck(some even being the E3 builds!!) and were not inpressive in the slightiest. Others were pre-rendered footage(but I'm guessing it'll fool the main-stream).
4. PD0 was not playable and there was no footage.
5. DOA4 was not playable and there was no footage.
6. GOW footage and Oblivion footage were no where to be found.
OVERALL:
It feels like the demo kiosks are just as rushed as the launch itself. I've seen MUCH more impressive videos of these games then the ones that were available. Really pathetic. Hopefully they can get some new Demos and movies in before Christmas.
