I didn't really plan on getting one, but my tat artist brought his in today (which he didn't plan on getting either), and my jaw would've hit the floor, ahd it not been for the huge boner I popped, which broke its fall. No hand-held gaming console should look like what I saw; it's pretty much inhuman. The quality of the video is unline anything I have ever seen... it looks better than the PS2 on a regular screen.

He bought one for the same reason: someone showed him their PSP, he went nuts, bought one immediately, etc. It spreads like the plague. I'm going to type more later (it's bedtime), but I actually feel like the amount of hype it was given was completely, 100% justified. Oncee it builds up a nice library of games, I think Nintendo is gonna be having some major problems in the merket it once dominated.

How long does the gameplay last? And do I have to plug it into something? I mean, why would I, who already have a PlayStation and a PlayStation 2 + hundreds of DVDs, want one?

Bloody PSP, I just saw two Thailand kids who stayed over in my house (Homestay) bought one for each of them.. I didn't care at first, but when I actually tried it.. shit.. I was about to cry.. I might consider getting one now..
Although, the price is like.. ouch... !! Hhh.. if only it's cheaper..

My mother and step-father are in Vegas at the moment and I just got the call from them to tell me that I am now the proud owner of a PSP (Value pack with 240v converter) for the measly sum of a £125 sterling. I'm happy as a pig in the proverbial.

I bought one like a month back. I'm decently satisfied.

The battery time has some issues. Game play, maybe 8 hours, movies, about enough time to watch one, and I have an iPod Photo so I don't know about the photo or music options.

As for the games that are availiable, I'm finding myself let down. Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix was alright, but alas, just another Tony Hawk's game. Untold Legends (The prevailing RPG on the system at the moment) is fuckin' pitiful. It's on par with Diablo I, and not in a nice way. Just got Dynasty Warriors, and that's alright, but it's still a scaled down verion of Dynasty Legends 4. I've played the two racing games, but since I hate racing games, hated them.

The movies are excellent as far as the graphics go. I have Spiderman 2 and Saw. The only complaint I have is that the shape of the PSP makes it a bitch to find a way to hold it so that you can see without a glare (I'm almost always in light) and at the same time not give you carpel tunnel. I guess they just made an adapter though that comes with (bigger) speakers and a dock that holds the PSP up at an angle, thus solving that problem. But I would have to buy that adapter, and that blows.

I heard (Or read) that someone was wondering about plugging in the PSP... I assume you mean to a TV or the like. As far as I know, that isn't possible. You can plug it into your computer via a USB cord and download pictures/music/programs, and you can plug it in to charge, but I belive that is it.

However, it's in speculation that Sony will release a home UMD player that will play all the UMD's on your television instead of your PSP. That would be fuckin' sweet, if only because the protection on the UMD's (You'd have to see the UMD to understand that part) and their about half the size of a DVD (Even in the whole case).

So PSP's are alright... but I would wait for them to come into reasonable price range (Like $150), unless they release an onslaught of better games or somehow make it interactable with PS2 (Or PS3 ala Gamecube and the GameBoy Advances).

Until PSP puts out, at least, 3 great games, I'm gonna have to stick to the DS.

Quality just does not make up for quanitity in this area.

for a mere £100 i think it's pretty decent. might not have a great selection of games out yet, but there's plenty of decent games lined up to be released pretty soon.

The DS is a GBA with backlighting. Very few games make good use of that 2nd screen, BUT I can still play GBA games on it and some good DS games are coming up.

The PSP is great, I'd be an idiot not to acknowledge it's greatness, I just don't have a reason to buy one. I just use my friends when I'm in the mood.

MAYBE if they released FFVII: AC like they SAID they would, I'd change my tune. Why won't they hurry up!?!?!

Advent Children will be released on, I believe it was, September 16th. They do have a release date. Although, I think that that is only the DVD, and they haven't yet released a date on the UMD version.

And Game Boy Advance has a back light... at least here in the US they do.

Thats ..kiddies..some of us remember a time when it was the GAMEs not the system specs.that mattered ..So we had GAMES .. Games worth our time and money ...Untill they go back to the old ways ..the hell with them !!!
