| I cancelled my 360 order -
12-15-05
I saw a 360 in action yesterday, while I was buyin' Paper Mario for teh 'Cube, and I admit it looked really reeeeally good, but.... a first-person shooter is still a first-person shooter, y'know? Granted, it looked amazing, but there's a point where that stops mattering so much. Call of Duty 2 was like the other Call of Duties, but it just looked a jillion times better. But, is that it? What exactly is "next gen," anyway? Better hardware, or a different experience entirely? Bah... I'm starting to think it's the latter. If that's the case, then the Rev is probably the only true "next gen" system coming out.
I'm definitely getting a 360, due to Gears of War, Condemned and Alan Wake, and also to be able to get new titles as they come out, but my panties aren't in a twist over not having one anymore. I figure the 'Cube and the PS2 will keep me busy until I can get one.

I'd like to get a 360, but I'm shooting more for the ps3. Even though the ps2 fails in graphics to the cube and the box, I just like the games better.
Otherwise, it's like you said: Quote: |

I'm shooting for all the systems- but eh, college and getting the money to pay for everything is more important at the moment.
I'll have to wait. And waiting for such lovely systems IS worth the long wait.

I'm a lying asshole. I got an email from my tattoo artist saying that he got his 360 on Tuesday, and that it's the shit-and-a-half. So, I scurry over to eBay and get one for a decent price. I'll have it in a few days.
Sorry, logic and reason; you don't matter.

the 360 has helped me save money quite well too. i've kept aside at least £200 for games and accessories and i've tried not to spend any money on other random shit for when it comes out. it's also helpin me save so i can get a new screen. so every minute i dont have it, i accumulate money in my bank. not bad.
i dont think i will cancel my order, becase i do love the games that are coming out on it and the integration and suchlike. the way it works blah blah blah. yeah i know ps3 is supposed to have awesome graphics and uses a disc that can hold fuckloads more data but mweh. their other ideas suck. and that controller? well...
i like the idea that you can plug a usb keyboard into my 360 and almost any other mass storage device, and that it will work with my pc.
i can see myself getting a revolution too. thinking about whats going on with all this new technology and such, these next gen consoles are already behind anyway. quad hd is out. theres a new disc that pisses on blu ray and hd-dvd and sound? well. we won't go there. so yeah, what is next gen?
well it depends who's developing. ms and sony say it's newer equipment that can allow for more in depth gaming. games will be the same, kinda, but more in depth, more powerful, more free flowing, and more mmo gaming. (not just rpg)
1000 independantly controlled zombies on screen at once on the alpha units with condemned. the insane sized battlefields and multiples of foes you can only dream of in N3 / kameo, world sized maps in FFXI, pip of your friends view and satelite views and your view as well as hud and your view and such in advanced warfighter, stupidly insanely large cities and maps that you can freely float around and do what you want where you want in gta games.
its just a level up really. more power means more detailed and more bells and whistles gaming.
nintendo say newer methods of interaction. a new way at looking at games thats just so different its in its own field. using technology to create something for everyone, something that doesn't rely on fancy pictures, but revolves around the way you work it. breaking free from the boundaries of discs and cartidges and wires and pads. actions, movements, voice and light are our new controllers. take it to a new level. allow everyone to play all the older games they love but with more ontop.
nintendo are the more next gen in my view. but will fancy tri-billion-polygon bouncing titties in dead or alive win over backwards compatibility, fun games and completely different control methods? i think 2007 will tell us.

I think the PS3 controller kicks ass. The longer, crescent shape looks like it'll give me good leverage. It's slim, not as unwieldy as Xbox controllers. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

Oh yeah. I agree. I <3 some Gamecube anyway.
Now.. the SNES controller reigns supreme as the greatest ever. Which is fitting considering the SNES is the greatest console ever.
You've got your standard directional pad. Select, Start. Your XY AB keys for jumping, attacking, blocking, etc. I mean seriously.. that covers it. And it's all wrapped up in a tidy little shape that's easy on the hands and doesn't weigh 15 lbs. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

Have you messed around with the new Xbox controllers? Far from unwieldy, in my opinion. Plus, you definitely haven't had any encounters with a PS3 controller yet, because no one has You have no proof to back your claims! BAH.
And yes, 'Cube controllers = best.

cube controller = awesome. except there were buttons i had to look and shift my hand across to so i knew i was hiittin them right when i first played.
i dont know why, but i adored the sega dreamcast controller. twas big, but it sure was great.
the best controller, because it just seems to float in your hands, and doesnt ever cause strain, has to be the megadrive / genesis controller. 32x one was good too because of the added buttons.
can't write more, gotta go out.
laters all. | |

Well, I went with the 360, Condemned and Call of Doodie 2. I think it's the better of the two.

That lens is known as especially good for close up work which is an area I want to get into and work upon. I've got an 28-70mm and a 70-300mm but was recommended this piece of glass to do the kind of work I'm interested in.
It's either have fun and possibly make money with the lens, or buy the 360 and just go for fun... To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Maybe I should have specified. I don't own an Xbox 360. And I'm not in the habit of mowing down little kids to test the system out in Wal Mart. I was talking about the "old" Xbox controller.
And I believe what I said was the PS3 controller LOOKS like it'd be nice. So leave me alone. In Memory of the Busby Babes :
