t will never get old.. just an amazing game that actually gets better the more you play it.. well not better, just gets awesome in different ways..
i bought an xbox because i wanted an xbox, because of xbox live and sega basically.. was a displaced SEGA whore..
i bought halo reluctantly...
and it made me a gamer again, it really did.. i was BUYING sega games, but barely playing them at that point, just kinda out of gaming... i bought an xbox, played halo, shit.. i was INTO gaming again.. this game was a dream.... one of those once in a generation type games...
halo > all
halo 2 is amazing and all.. but in some ways, i think they should have just left halo alone, to forever be that game, that amazing game..
but shit, i cant wait for halo 3 and replaying halo1/halo 2 next generation will still be amazing
okay heres the difference between halo 1 and halo 2 single player
halo 2 throws you into lots of awesome fights/situations, wiht little buildup (to alot of hte levels, some of them are perfectly timed/executed)
halo 1 has long levels, with loads of fighting enemys, going through similar territory/terrain, really entrenching yourself in the battle..
both are great.. but i think halo 1 really made it feel more liek you were in the battle, part of the story, doing something.. wherehas halo 2 was more like a movie where you were controlling parts of it, and then being ripped back out to being a viewer...

You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

I was never as big into Halo as some of my friends, but I still own them and like them I was much more of a Half-Lifer. I think the initial problem was that I just couldn't get into Halo's story; it was there, and it was rich, but there was something about it that didn't seem specific enough, if that makes any sense. I also never liked the Covenant enemies; I think they would've done much better with a half-alien, half-stormtrooper kind of thing, instead of a bunch of goofy lil' midgets, heh.
Even so, Halo is a very good game, and I know for a fact that Halo 3 will be insanely good. Let's just hope the movie doesn't suck!
The original Halo is easily the best game this generation, The longevity of that game alone gives it that title.

lmao. well in your opinion. Just don't expect everyone else to agree with you.

Hey, Half-Life's been out much longer, and people still play that. There's a bunch of popular PS2 games that came out before the Xbox even launched, too. I think you might just be talking about online play, and if so, don't forget Counterstrike. Came out a looooong time ago, and people still play that (though I don't see why).
The longevity thing doesn't really give it credibility as the best game of any generation. Tons of people today still worship Super Mario Brothers, but most NES-heads don't think it was the best game. It was just the first.
halo1 is my favorite game of all time, playing multi with friends is the most fun I have had playing video games
It's seriously never the same fight twice, no prescripted bullshit. The first few levels are truly epic though - Halo, the Truth and Reconciliation, Silent Cartographer, Attack on the Control Room... Shit, just the fact that I remember all the titles speaks volumes about this game

Now I'm not about to say Halo is shit. But I will say it isn't the best game of this generation, ect. Although a very good twist from normal gaming, (and I give it 4/5, just because xbox has yet to produce somthing that I *love*) I think it's just slightly above 'Normal' games, which is why it gets so much hype. What this generation needs is a good ol fashion game that's remade to match that of Super Mario or somthing. THEN a game that wipes that out of the water. KillZone is easily a very good game once you get pass the lack of 'Why doesn't this make sense?' quality, and should have gotten more praise then it did, but I think it's right up there with Halo.
Again, 4/5, but leaves room for improvment. As a side note, those giant heads that blow up for smaller heads... It doesn't matter if you kill them before they blow, they still blow. Which is somthing I didn't much care for. Once you kill somthing in the gaming world (set by now a day standereds) it should die. But I do like the creativity behind it (regardless if it dies, you still have a problem).

i've only played through it once; like i said, i could really get drawn into the storyline. The Half-Life series, on the other hand..... fan-freakin-tastic. Half-Life 2 was the most immersive FPS I've ever played.
I am playing Soul Calibur II and III, and I dont think II will ever lose its flavor... oh and on the subject of Half life games... those are amazing games... I thought the Ratchet and Clank games were entertaining...
Halo and Halo 2, they were entertaining, but the greatest, no offense redwood, but there are other games out there that could float your boat. Such as:
Far Cry- Insticts Operation: Snow Blind
Both are amazing in their own ways... Snow blind is very gritty future, requires smarts, or if you wish, brute strength, or my fav, both.
