anyone played these? how does the story work in the games?
im following the anime and soon the manga... but i dont have the cash for the games now...

i finished the first.... and got up to a boss in the second... i couldnt be botherd to lvl up or look for items...ergh....
anyway...the story.... i guess its pretty good...

I played and finished part 1 & 2, can't wait for 3... well if I understood your question correctly, the game is basically a long story chopped into parts. So the story continues from part 1 to 2 and so on, there's a short summary of the previous part on each game I think... (well it's there on part 2 anyway... but not part 1 duh) I wish I could watch the anime...

but you can play them individually, right? doesnt matter to me since i WILL be playing them in order... eventually...
i just wanted to know how much the story of the games intercuts with the story of the anime...

no, i dont think its the SAME story... same time maybe, but the charachters are definitely different...
Anime chars:
Tsukasa - Wavmaster who cant logout...
Mimiru - heavy blademaster who helps
Bear - heavy blademaster who helps
BT - attractive wavemaster whose side youre never sure shes on
Sora - twin blade assasin who does what he wants when he wants
Subaru - cute heavyaxewoman who leads the crimson knights (a group whose members want to stop Tsukasa) but cares for Tsukasa and helps him as she can
Game chars (i only know names)
Kite
Black Rose
Helba
i know that helba turns up in emails in the anime and you see her briefly in a few scenes, but shes not a major charachter...

the main issue with Tsukasa is yes, he cannot log off... but, there is a growing theme as the anime progresses that there is a rising tide and an enigmatic force behind it.

not really... its speculated that Tsukasa himself is IN a coma, but that somehow his conciousness it trapped within the World. its also speculated that Tsukasa is a girl, though whenever asked he denies this hypothesis... that and there seems to be a relationship forming between Tsukasa and Subaru...

It's an action-RPG on PS2, good storyline, and it resembles an MMPORPG (Masive Multi Player Online RPG) though they're really just NPCs.... and no... you can't download it... well as far as I know...

i just saw an ad in PSM and it showed computer generated versions of both Kite's team (well... i guess thats just him and Black Rose) and Tsukasa's team (Him, Bear, and Mimiru)...
all i can hope for now is that Tsukasa's team has a major role and that Suburu shows up... god i love that little axegal...

ive watched most of the anime,and played the first game,and im not even gonna bother with the manga...
if you watch the dvd that comes with infection,you can pretty much figure out how they all tie together,though the dvd kinda bored me...
all i can really say is that "the world" would make a pretty cool MMORPG,but since its just a simulated one..i cant really get into the game...i play it when im bored and stuff,though i cant get into it like other rpgs i normally get into(like xenogears,ff6,ff7,SOA,ect.)
id say the anime is the best of .hack =o
and if it sounds like im rambling,its about 4:50AM,and i havent got to sleep so sorry =o | |

leveling is tedious... but going on dungeon sweeps for items to trade can get you some SWEET items... not to mention Data Draining the high level monsters for rare weapons... great replay value...
and that Poison Grunty looks waaay out there...
