Tracking/Targeting Shooter: Examples:Missle Command ,Atlantis,Blood Brothers,&Shooting Gallery etc.
Side Scrolling Shooter : Examples : R-type,Sidearms, & Gradius,etc.
Vertical/ Scrolling Shooter : Examples: Gallaga,tiger Helli ,The Ninja & 1942,etc.
Mixed Scroller Shooter : Vanguard,Life Force,& legendary Wings ,etc.
Flying Shooter : After Burnner,StarWars,& Aces High ,etc.
3-D Shooter : Mega Man Legends, Spyro,Starfox & MechWarrior,etc.
First Person Persective Shooter : Quake,Unreal,& Halflife,etc.

Run & Jump :Any game where in the primary skills needed are moveing/running and jumping ..

Run & Jump Shooter/Hack & Slash : Shinobi,Ghost N Goblins,Rastan,& Metroid,etc.

R.P.G. ( Role Playing Game) : Any Game Played out as an Role Playing Game .

R.P.G.: Phantasy Star,Final Fantasy,& Might & Magic,etc.
Action R.P.G. : Zelda,Champions Of Norath,Guantlet & Ultima,etc.
MUDS (Multi-User Dungeon): Muds,UnterMUDs,LPMUD,MOOs,&TinyMUD,etc.

Puzzler: Any game where problem solving is the primary skill needed to play .

Catagories :
Maze: Maze Craze,Pac-Man or any maze based game that requires navagation skills .
Drop block : Tetris,klax,& and game where blocks or shapes drop from above and need to be placed .
Elimanation : Collaps, that tile thing and any game where the object is to clear a screen by selecting or placeing objects.

Driveing/Raceing
Sports
etc.

Yeah thats pretty messy and it's missed out some genres, even the older ones. Some of the catagories dont need to be added in there. Genres always cross over though so some might be suited elsewhere.

Maybe another catagory for lightgun games even though they can be called FPS games

NICE WORK RED !! Yeah I have a bigger list of game styles but I have to go find it and it's going to cover the old stuff ..So yeah Thanks esp. since I dont keep up with things like I used to so I was hopeing one of you would know some styles I might not have thought of like point and click ..thats better than or a good off shoot of elimination etc.

I also like Simulation Games ...good title and was just calling thoose SIMS and not likeing it would have never thought of Tactical/Strategy RPGs
