FF7 was one of the best games to ever come out on the playstation, but I thought that FF8 was just a great big pile of shite. The only reason it sold so well was because people expected it to be like FF7, the cartoon graphics of FF7 made it more enjoyable and the story was just out of this world. They shouldn't have ghanged the graphics to try and make them more realistic because the reason people play computer games is because it is an escape from the real world!!!
And the way the characters looked w/o the CG graphics sucked in FF8. But in FF7 they rocked. The fact is what ruined FF8 was that the storyline was bad. There was no real challenge b/c you can defeat Ultimecia by just getting a bunch of those stupid really high power crystals for Irvine's gun and keep using auras on both Squall and Irvine to use their limit breaks with their highest weapon and shit and you got the game beat.
But you gotta admit FF9 rules especially the ending...sad.... **Sighs**
I haven't played FF9 so I cant really comment on it, but i've had a go in the chocobo forest on FF9 and I liked the idea that if you collect the chocographs, you can find rare items by using the chocobo to dig elsewhere in the world rather than just in the chocobo forests!
the only thing i HATE about FF7 is that its sooooooo hard to get a chochboo thats in good shape cuz you need 2 good chocboos to fuck to have a gold,black or green chocboo to go to that island to get that knights of the round table mataria!
I agree, FF8 had no strong story line to it. I played the first part but no part of the game really made me want to continue playing it. FF7 was far better, I'm glad they didnt keep the "in play" graphics looking like 8 on 9. The only good that came from FF8 was the movies, but that was about it.

well basically everyone loved ff7 if they were any good at it. great storyline, great characters and great gameplay. It is definetly good news to see that ff9 has employed the polgron graphics to the characters as they were easier to connect with unlike ff8 where the characters went through long stages of emotion and you felt that you were being subsided and couldnt really understand the plot. by the way i am playing ff9 at the moment and i have stopped since getting on the 2nd disc to concentrate on my exams. oh well

I've curentely started playing ff8 again and i'm pretty close to completing it, but I only really play it to get collect the cards. , I've got most of the character cards and quite a few gf cards as well :p , i'm currentely trying to beat the card king Quistis to gain the Gilgameth card. I'm actually a bit pissed off b/c I missed the Alexander card which you can win off Piere on the lunar space station, you can also win Laguna's card here by playing Elone .
I've done EVERYTHING that can be done in FF7 (Even beat the Ruby weapon), the insane amount of time I've spent on this game is either a testement to it currently being the ultimate game ever created; or my total insanity. In turn (Albeit with disappointment at a lot of it) I've done almost everything in FF8. So if anyone wants some pointers on anything pertaining to these two games feel free to ask.

Well there are two ways you can get a gold chocobo, breeding is one of the most difficult becuase it's a lottery of sorts, sometimes you'll get a male chocobo when you want a female or vice versa; you need a good supply of Carob nuts to use when you mate any too chocobos in order to get any kind of rare chocobo, Wonderful chocobos are important to start with and can be found around the Icicle area. One thing that is key; all your chocobos should be S class racers in the Gold saucer, for this to work you need to raise all their stats to tops with Syklis greens which you can buy off the chocobo sage in the mountains on the Icicle continent. This makes it a lot easier to get new rare breeds of chocobo, the only real problem after this is breeding the right chocobo sex. Another thing thats impotant is that you need to use a Zeio nut when you mate your Black chocobo with a wonderful chocobo to get a Gold one. (Lots of inbreeding going on in those stables)
The other way is a catch 22; if you defeat Ruby Weapon you can get a gold chocobo from the Kalm traveler in exchange for the desert rose, the catch 22 part of this though is that it's next to impossible to defeat Ruby Weapon without the Knights of the Round matieria
