I really like the Phantasy Star series and i also liked the Grandia games as well. I prefer knowing what enimies lay ahead of me so that i know which i may need to avoid if my characers are not strong enough to battle them, since i don't spend a shitload of time leveling the characters up. recently i have been looking back at some of the older games and came across Chrono Cross, which i may get and Dragon Warrior VII, Can anyone give me any ideas of what i should expect from Dragon Warrior VII and if it might possible fit into what yas been described.

Dragon Warrior 7 is supposed to be a hell of a long game. I downloaded it and played it for a while but it got boring fast, the graphics are subpar and I hated the controls. It hasnt changed much from the older games in the series, even in terms of graphics. It`s random battles all the way with this one as well so it doesnt fit into the Grandia mold of visable enemies.

i can probably get past the random enemies since the PS series does the same thing. it seems like an interesting game, and yes it is supposed to be a long ass game. i have somewhat been playing DW6 and that doesn't see to bad. it could just be Final Fantasy's over abundance of random encounters that bothers me about the games. I like the story line and all, but when you walk two steps between battles alot it just seems retarded and you make no headway in the game.

I recommend you play through the first several dragon warrior games before you try to play through Dragon warrior 7.
