Wow.
I've got the KANE edition for PC, and i'm blown away by it. Probably not worth buying the KANE version really, but it's still good. i'd say just get the normal version. it's worth it. it really is.
The new interface links together brilliantly with the style of original C+C games and of the later EA releases.
the graphics have been juiced up and the gameplay is really what you expected to get from C+C before EA jumped in and destroyed it all.
Strategy is back. you can't just run in with bundles of units and own the field. try to storm them and they'll counterract your men with anti infantry. you have to play the right units in the right situations.
Your units are still not all that intelligent, waypoints are a must if you want them to go a certain path. but they're alot easier to lay now. and as soon as you put a point, they're on their way.
Network gaming is brilliant. took my key round to my friends and loaded em up and it's brilliant over the network. oh yes, there will be C+C3 lan gaming parties.
the real life video from the old days is back. brighter, more in depth, brilliant. GDI and NOD plus a new race. an alien race. straight out of war of the worlds.
I've also downloaded the demo from LIVE for the 360 version. it's hard to control at the start, seems a little alien, and i keep trying to drag select units but do boot camp through a couple of times and it gets easier and easier.
they've revamped the system for the 360, very much different than the pc version. the 360 has its own special interface, and it works really well with the controller.
there's still a few controls i have to work out, but it's a good system.
If you haven't downloaded it, do.
and if you have a pc that can hold up to the graphics, get it. just... get it.
you'll need a G of ram at least though, it'll run on 512, but will struggle with some things.
i'd say... minimum spec (for a decent graphical game) of 1g ram ddr400, 1.8ghz processor, 256MB NVIDIA 6200 chipset gfx card or ATI equivalent. |
