I find it funny that people complain about the size of the xbox controller, because it is the only one I didn't feel like I was going to break, infact it is the only one I can use now. The new lighter controller doesn't do anything for me, maybe I just have large hands but it has always felt comfortable in them.
I also own and play NES, SNES and I'm sure there is an Atari 2600 kicking around here somewhere that is just dying to be played. | Its not that I don't like x-box per se, its that I don't trust the company who makes them Farewell Little Brother, You Shall be Missed 1989-2007 I'm gonna kick you ass for this though

Here's some stats: XBOX: CPU: 733mhz CPU (intel based) RAM: 64MB Micron 200MhzDDR Graphics PPU: 250mhz XGPU
Mem-bandwidth: 6.4 GB/sec Polygon (performance): 125M/sec PS2: CPU: 294.92 MHz RAM: 32MB Rambus (RDRAM) Mem-bandwidth: 3.2 GB/sec Graphics PPU: 150mhz GSCPU Polygon (Performance): 98M/sec
There ya have it, fuck the game cube, without DVDs it wont make it.
The X-Box is a fuckload better at polygonal rendering and logic calculation.
But the Ps2 has more games....
If you like perfomance, go with XBOX, if you like game choices, go with PS2.
Note: info to back up the above data can be found here: http://psx.ign.com/articles/067/067138p1.html
and here: http://gear.ign.com/articles/306/306618p1.html
There ya go.
Enjoy! | |

Sure, progs made for the windows API are NOT gonna run on other APIs!
THis is a given!
Although, if you use an winAPI emulator ( http://www.wine.org) then a lot of programs WILL run
on other systems.
Oh, and as of today, there are 6,253 more programs for LINUX then windows, that's the power of open soure.
Source: http://www.linuxquestions.org
Try and get Mendax or Kdev to run on windows, that's a trick.
Winblows is famous for insecurities, crashes, fragmented files, damaged registrys, DLL errors, memory faults, and, no matter what you do, you'll eventualy get the infamous "Blue Screen of Death."
I haven't touched my Winblows Partition for about 2 weeks, which is a long time for me, I don't think I'll ever go back.
SO, there ya go....
Get LINUX, save money, and enjoy the power.

Well I've just had 4 weeks off work and looking at being off work for at least another 6 weeks due to ill health, that mixed with chronic insomnia does make for a lot of free time...

Get LINUX, save money, and enjoy the power. | I said ALMOST nothing else. And I am not the only user of this pc. Even if I did put something on there that makes the OS just as functional for other people, I'd still end up getting ripped to holy hell and back which is not a pleasing prospect Farewell Little Brother, You Shall be Missed 1989-2007 I'm gonna kick you ass for this though

ohh....
good point.....
kinda, except the ALMOST nothing else runs on other OSes, I dont agree with that,
but otherwise it's a good point.
You could always burn the Knoppix ISO onto a CD (linux on the fly)...
it runs totaly on the CD and it's rather fast too (for being on CD)....
If you wanted to experiment...
later. | |

XBOX has the hardware.
PS2 has the games.

Yeah, I'm sure that the X-box and the PS2 have better games or whatever, but the Dreamcast has given me so much more fun over the years with all the billions of great 2D fighters and...Puzzle Fighter. Good times. Not to mention that it's pretty much an open console now, since there's very little in the way of stopping you from downloading games for it. Enjoy! | It's not all about the little machine that runs the games. It's all about the games. The system is a cheap investment. You will never get to play Zelda or Metroid if you don't have a cube. The other systems are more powerful but they can't run proprietary software. I have all kinds of game systems and feel they all have their place, but this is due to the games that are made for them, not the stats of the systems. Wait a year or two and yet another gen of system will come out. You will still need a SNES to play Mario Cart or some of the other old school games. Downloading them on a rom will never take the place of the original system. It's really about the games.

Althou Im not a very big video gamer, I got a ps2 when it came out, and love the Game Cube more, simply because of the games. Which is why I need to buy an Xbox: Conker: Live and reloaded. For ONE game.
I think everyone has to own a Nintendo product, just to play the fantastic games. They won't sell the license to just anyone for Mario titles (Like the new one for NDS), so when a new system comes out, and mario is made famous again, ya'll will need to go out and buy it, just because you can't beat games like mario with games like Kill Zone or Mortal Kombat.

The cube is the best, simply because of the genius layout of the pad... end of story

Actually, when decideing on which system to get, since I didn't really care which (Xbox or Ps2, I was just trying to get into platform games a little bit), I judged by the size and fit of the controller. PS2 won it out easy. Its a very nice model. Xbox felt too bulky (but Im willing to give it another shot) and the cube felt too, too small.
I mainly went with the ps2 for the games and controlller, as Xbox had just came out, and I was iffy if it was another DreamCast.
Speaking of which, is Dreamcast a good system to have? I might pick up one of those for those really boreing nights.
As for the cube, at the time: I wasn't much concerned. It seemed like a cheap product (if it was out at the time of ps2, I don't remember.).
