Now I know that most of you have played at least one Final Fantasy in your life. I myself have played 7 through 11 (although I only touched 11 briefly) and part of 5 (Had it on ROM on the computer but the comp. crashed on me and I lost it), and Tactics.

So my question is, which is the best game, and why?

I think 7 had the by far the best storyline of any I've played, and the best set of music as well. The materia system, while a bit annoying to level, was very basic if you played that way, or held endless combonations. Characters all had various depths and Sephiroth is the coolest mother fucker alive. I also really liked 8 though. Some people claim it was too serious, but I enjoyed the seriousness of it. Once again the characters were all amazing (As seems to be the case with all FF games). I thought the draw system was very kool, since it required that the monsters around you grew as you did, and thus the game didn't all of a sudden lose all difficulty once you reached (Or your magic/weapon) a certain level. But I think I would have to go with 7 as my all time favorite FF.

I would love to hear other's opinions on the series as a whole, and on the games individualy.

I've played FF6 right through FF10 (also Tactics), and all of them are special in their own way... but I personally enjoyed FF7 the most, the storyline is beautifully made, and I really like the materia system, it is simple enough that first time RPG players can adjust to it and complicated enough to interest experts. Though FF7 is probably one of the easier FFs (cept for Ruby and Emerald, yeah they're tough), I still enjoyed it and really the reason why I chose it as my favorite FF is its story.

personally, i think FFT has the better story... much more in depth than one psycho... conspiracy, religion, politics, love... betrayal...

True Errantrouge, but it was a much smaller game. And the story was a bit hard to follow the first time through.

And dude..sephiroth. Come on. He is badass.

i've played i've played 7 thru 10, and i've played ff4 which is actually 2 in the us i think, i never quite knew what was what, and ff9 takes the cake with me. in ff7 i hated that materia shit.

Yea, the materia system at very first took a second to get used too. If you play it a second time though, you would be surprised how it kind of just pops out at you, and your like "Oh, duh, I see it now".

lets see... ive played 3(6), 5, 10 ... wow... thats not much...

anyway... i dont really like 10 compared to the other 2 ive played...

kefka is just a sucky villain... so.. yeah... thats the only think i didnt like about 3...

and... i really like the job system in 5...

Good deal. I had this memory card, that had 7, 8, 9, and Tactics games on it. It had the game right before the "point of no return" and then one right before the boss. And of course most of the games (minus 7) had everything possible and all that good shit. So every game had about 100 hours in it. So my brother, being a genius, decides the Diablo saved character files are more precious than those, and saves over my files...So now in my quiet rage I must replay all of the games. But the upside is that I have 5 and 6 there, and X-2 is right around the corner. And Tactics advanced (the only reason I still hold the GBA) and then Chrystal Chronicals, but I gotta find a gamecube to play that one on.

bah... too overpowered... you never saw his growth... with the Zodiac Demons, you saw every flaw... every pawn moved into position...

all you had with Seph was a deus ex machina (i REALLY hate the way this phrase is used... it should be 'god is in the details' not the 'gof machine') who you could beat in the end... big whoop

for me, it a close call between 8 and 10. 7 is a very close 1st though. i played....lets see....2/4(not finished), 3/6, 5, tactics (only saw through the story, not finished), 7,8,9 and10. i guess that's nearly all of them!
two was pretty wierd and ok for Nintendo i guess.
3 was awesome,
5 had one of the best battle systems (job class yeah!)
7 had the best plot and villain.
8 had one of the best battle systems, stories and the card game roX!
the only good thing about 9 is the chocobo sidequest and
10 was very good. very different. haven't played 11.

FF9. I connected with and liked the characters (and all the side characters too) better than I did in any of the others I've played. I've only played FF7-FF9, so I'm limited to an opinion on those three. FF9 just seemed more "fun". The characters were humorous all in their own way, but they were also dramatic too. I don't know... I can't think of the words to explain it. I liked the music in FF9 the best too.

The only character I didn't like was Freya, the rat chick. She kinda made the game depressing with the whole "missing love" but turns out he got conked on the head and doesn't remember who she is. With all the other characters, they discovered something about themselves that was "bad" or "depressing" but they still kept a bright eye on their life. The only part I liked about the rat chick was that part where she danced and that music was playing. I liked the music that went along with it. Blah blah blah...anywho

7. Best music, best combat system, minigames and the end boss was one of the few ones that felt like it was any kind of a threat.

I wish they hadn't slapped FF1 with FF2...FF1 was so great, because it barely had any story and was filled with insane nonsensical fighting and huge annoying dungeons...FF2 started the whole "Final Fantasy is a story based series" thing...I'm a Dragon Warrior fan if you haven't figured that out already.

yea maybe i'll pull it out and play it again soon. i can't wait to play ffx-2 i think it comes out nov 3rd. anybody here play it yet?

I've played 7 - 9, and still think that the depth of the chars in 7 made the whole thing worth while. 10 has incredible graphics, but I really, really, realyl don't like Tidus.
