Fish anyone? - 06-28-05

Personally, I'm not a big fan. I eat tuna and salmon and that's it - and even then, I can only eat the tuna fresh, and the salmon tinned.

I need to broaden my horizons, what sort of fish would you suggest for a beginner, and what recipes do you have?

Bare in mind, I can't eat anything with skin, bones, or it's head and tail left on.

Cod, what's wrong with cod, Mia? I love it, and salmon.

Tesco's (and I'm sure most other supermarkets) do skinless and boneless salmon fillets, stick them under a medium heat grill for 20 minutes, beautiful!
Like kedgeree? Smoked haddock in that tastes great, get the undyed stuff though.

im even pickier than you mia. i only eat canned tuna. and on occasion, fish sticks (only one brand i like). but i did work in a seafood department for 4 years. i would suggest flounder fillets, or a fish called Tilapia (nice firm, semi pinkish, fillets) im told it is awesome. but really salmon is the only fish you need since its highest in Omega 3 fatty acids which are really needed for the brain i think.

Hmms - Halibut and Haddock are quite strong aren't they? I think I need to start off quite bland - I reckon I could do cod, good idea!

Also, salmon fillets sound good, especially if they will skin and bone the thing for me!

Flounder sounds scarey... what sort of texture does it have?

I don't find halibut as strong tasting as say cod, or sole.

flounder has a bit of a flakey texture. not spongey or slimy at all. talapia is a bit firmer still and flakes really nicely when cooked. similar in texure to tuna i suppose.

I tried tiger prawns the other day and really didn't like them.. such a strange texture.

As for lobster.... I just can't eat anything that's still wearing it's claws and was boiled alive...

I don't like the smell or taste of fish, I think that's since I nearly choked on a "bone" (whats that called in english for fish??) when I was little.

I eat fishfingers (they don't look like fish which is a good thing ;-) ), and sometimes canned tuna, but that's it...no shrimp, lobster, squid (tried it but ewwwwww)....none of that scary stuff ;-)

Mahi mahi is good and it doesn't have a fishy flavor....it's actually a bit sweet with a nice moist, firm texture...Shark also has a nice texture, and no fishy taste...and they're both easy to cook...

i fuckin' love seafood!!!!!!!!!

in fact, i yelled at some friends of mine when we were in Jamaica cause none of them ate anything other than pork, chicken, and hamburger.......you're in the Carribean for christ sakes!!!!!!!

anywho........as for fish.....Siren's right.....

Mahi-mahi....excellent
Shark....FANTABULOUS!
dolphin.....purdy good, if you don't mine eatin' flipper
catfish.....meh, very fishy taste, but not too bad if beer battered
salmon filets.....yummy! but you gotta leave the skin on!!!! gives it flavor!

other:
lobster....yum yum!
crab.....excellent.......y'know, you can get just crab meat....such as: crab stuffed mushrooms (which a lot of resturaunts have, like Olive Garden, Red Lobster....so goddamn good!)
shrimp....meh....not my personal favorite, but popcorn shrimp seems to be a lot of non-seafood lover's dish of choice....
CALAMARI!!!!!!!! my absolute goddamn favorite!.......if it's raw, cooked, or battered, i'ma eat it regardless......but my preference is raw.....
and Sushi!!!!!!!! mmmm mmmm mmmm....only had it once in my life and i've been longin' for it since.......

and last but not least, Sardines!!!!!!!! that's right! fish in a can.....with a tail and a bone (no head) and smothered in mustard.....mmm mmmm mmmm.....sardines and crackers!

but my overall suggestion is try some mix n' match things.....for example, Olive Garden, you can get 3 appetizers for like $8.99 or some shit.....try a seafood one........or go out to eat and get like a fish meal that comes with sumtin' else.....

I was masturbating
