just wanted some opinions, our girls haven't been quite good enough to be on santa's good list, and we've discussed the option of giving them coal...or some other tiding verifying that there is indeed something to the..."if you're not good..." threat to children everywhere.

is this an acceptable punishment for bad little girls on christmas?

Well, I got out of hand alot in my young years. My ma and dad never gave me coal though. Said that even though we've been bad (or, rather, less then good) that they still loved us kids enough to show it through. Just promise to be nicer.

It all depends on how old they are. If they're young (6-9) they probably won't learn that coal = bad, and they'll still be mean through out the year. But if there 10-12, they'll learn, and learn to use that coal against you.

Overall though, I'd give kids gifts just to show the love. Evantually they'll learn that they're causing their parents hardship, and try to lighten the load somewhat by being nicer.

As for ages 1-6, it's your call. I ain't got alot of philosphy in that area.

i'd give them coal in their stockings, but also give them their presents. santa isn't a complete dick.

I think the sight of them crying when they found the coal would be too much for you. Maybe cut their presents back a lot instead, and explain how much more loot they would have got if they'd been good.

actually we caved...walmart had a telescope microscope set for twenty three dollars, since it wouldn't be fair to buy something for one and not the other, we purchased a little mermaid barbie for terah...

i purchased them each a book from borders(sucked in by their by three get one free sale)and then lord ivd returned the other night with some my little pony coloring books...no wonder kids rule the world while parents end up going slightly mad and a lot grey.

i love being a parent...

so yeah, my two horrible adorables get christmas...even though they believe they are not...it's cute watching our four year old tell people she's not getting christmas because she doesn't pick up her room.

why not put the coal in their stocking, tell them thats what they get for being bad.

then once they get the drift of what they've done.

give them the presents you bought but tell them they are from you, and that you hope they'll be nicer this year.

coal is better then doggy poop....

charcoal would be a gift for a young artist, no?
