First of all, coming from the chick that said "I don't know why you Americans are so hung up on 9/11. It's not like it killed that many people", your opinions on what constitutes fair, lawful, ethical, moral, or needful are not the most credible.

Second of all, "the fear", as you call it, isn't unfounded. People kill people. They always have. They always will. And as people get more and more powerful in their hatred of who-knows-what, so the weapons must get more and more powerful. Guns are needed until the human race somehow throws off their inherent evil and suddenly becomes full of happy tree-huggers.

I think people think they need guns because people around them have guns. If you don't have a gun, and I don't have a gun, then we wouldn't need guns. Yes, I am actually naive enough to believe that.

People die every day, thousands of people. I just don't get why 9/11 is the most special day. There are terrorist attacks daily all over the world. I just get the feeling that America has a "poor me" complex.

And exactly how do you think that we are going to be able to take all the illegal guns off the street? Not to mention, there are people who own guns strictly for sport shooting, should they not be allowed to pursue their hobby because of your irrational fear? Cars kill a SHIT TON more people than guns, should we take cars off the road too? Can you form a logical argument as to why you should take away our rights other than "guns are the center of all evil, and crime will stop without them".

well i can tell you that in the abcence of fire arms there will still be violence. here in Canada owning a fire arm is a nightmare of bulshit government logistics made to discriminate against a specific group ( white rural males) . ANy way the big problem in my city is knife attacks. no guns available well ill go to the mall and get a knife, however recently some gangs have began shooting eachother with what Im positive are fully registered and legally aquired firearms ... oh wait that is rediculous to the point of being offensive! . violence is a human condition and one we all have to live with. Now we can let our naivety leave us blind to the fact, we can be glad we live in a realtively safe part of the world ( although there are some areas of some US or mexican cites you could not pay me to go to..) we can let our fear rule us and turn us into paraniod gun cooks ( it happens)

I would be upset. But I wouldn't expect the WHOLE WORLD to be upset and have periods of silence every anniversary. People here do mark the the occasion, and most people here have never been to the states. American media has influenced the rest of the world to the point where "we" feel like "we" feel obliged to live like they do. (note "we" means my locals, not me).
