This gun is much smaller than your 16 inch naval guns Dyshade, but damn big for an aircraft. If I'm not mistaken this is the 105 mm Howitzer firing from this WC-130 Spectre gunship.

GoalKeeper

A highly effective automatic Close In Weapons System (CIWS) designed to shoot down missiles and aircraft which have evaded the outer layers of a ship's defences. Designed in Holland as an autonomous system, Goalkeeper has its own radars, fire control computers and a seven barrel 30mm Gatling gun firing 4200 rounds per minute - that's 70 rounds per second. The system is designed to automatically engage targets between 350 and 1500 metres away.

The 227mm Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS)is a self-propelled artillery rocket system with a range in excess of 30 km. MLRS is self-loaded with two rocket pods, each containing six rockets. Loading is power assisted and a single round ‘fire for effect’ of 12 rockets delivers 7,728 bomblets or 336 anti-tank mines. Operated from hides, usually as a battery of nine launchers, MLRS avoids counter attack by ‘shooting and scooting’ – moving fast and frequently between fire-missions

Starstreak HVM

The Starstreak HVM (High Velocity Missile) is designed to counter threats from very high performance, low-flying aircraft and fast 'pop up’ strikes by helicopter attacks. The missile, which travels at more than three times the speed of sound, uses a system of three dart-like projectiles, allowing multiple hits on the target. HVM can be fired from the shoulder, from a lightweight multiple launcher of from the Stormer armoured vehicle, which is equipped with an eight-round launcher and carries another 12 missiles inside the vehicle.

Light Anti-armour Weapon

The Light Anti-armour Weapon (LAW) is a 94mm,disposable, one-man-portable, High Explosive Anti Tank (HEAT) rocket system capable of destroying armoured targets at ranges up to 500m. A built-in spotting rifle and low-light sight increase the weapons accuracy. Law will be replaced by Next Generation Light Anti-tank Weapon (NLAW), an Overfly Top Attack (OTA) system, with a range of 200 to 600m.

Phalanx

Phalanx provides a "last-chance" defence by automatically detecting, tracking, and engaging anti-air warfare threats such as anti-ship missiles and aircraft.

Fitted in Type 42 Destroyers,LPD (Landing Platform Dock),LPH (Landing Platform Helicopter), and AOR (Auxiliary Oilier Replenishment). This 20mm automatic Gatling gun CIWS (Close-In Weapon System) has a range of approximately 1 mile and can fire at the rate of 3,000 rpm.

The Iowa Class Battleships were still in the fleet when I was in the USN back in the late 1980's, early 1990's. They were mothballed sometime in the mid-1990's.

I think it was the USMC rather than the USN that wanted these ships brought back online. The battleships are obsolete for bluewater surface warfare, but they are perfect for the offshore fire support role and this is what the Marines need. I think it was a mistake to take them battleships out of active fleet status, but the Cold War was over, the USSR collapsed, and so there were alot of military cutbacks in the 1990's.

Medieval Chinese armies were known to have used "Thunder Bomb Oxen" on a few occaisions to wreak havok amoung besieging armies. basically the Chinese would load up a few oxen with open baskets full of gunpowder near their flanks and tie a lit torch to thier tails, get em riled up and open the gates. Well, Ox goes berzerk, torch hit gun powder and TA DA! first ever cruise missle!

also Republican Roman armies on a few occaisons used flaming pigs to dissrupt an enemy formation. basicallt thewy got some hogs, greased em up and put a fire brand to em and off they went. fuckin sickos
