How many of you even know what this is?

I'm federally licensed, whoot! Anyway. The gist of Ham Radio is we're a community of people across the globe that loves to talk to other people across the globe, and help out when we can. During disasters, like floods, tornados, even 911, we step in and offer emergency communication services. And to top it off, I can legally own a police scanner, and most of you cant.

My call sign is KC8WYA, for any interested. And uhmm.. Yea. Thats one of my hobbies.

Sounds cool.... but i would not even know how to turn one on

I love police scanners though... used to have one when i worked at Dominoes Pizza.... so i could yell at the drivers if I heard them geting pulled over hehe

Well, like any other electronic device there's a "on" switch. It really isnt that hard. It can be as easy or complicated as you want it to be. When I was little I was very interested with the idea but really was more intimidated than anything else. I was relieved to find that really it was a piece of cake, and anything I didnt understand was simply solved by asking someone who did. The great thing about ham radio is that I have truly yet to find someone who isnt willing to help others out.

A new law was recently passed about police scanners in my area, and when my friends found out I could own one they got really excited. I can camp out and make sure they arent about to be busted or something.
