Russian Natasha Demkina, 17, has stunned doctors in her home country with her ability to see medical conditions inside people.

“The only way I can explain it is that my brain sees before my eyes. I seem to have two visions — one is normal, the other I call medical vision. I can see inside the human body but not through it. If someone held something behind their back I wouldn’t see it.”

Call me naive, but I believe it's possible. The human brain is still so uncharted in its potential. We use such a small percentage of it.

Some people see dead people, so why not live organs?

The human brain yes, but the human eye? .. it is not capable of such.

well now, this would go back to the human brain. The eye can see whatever it sees, just not through layers of material that light cannot penetrate. Therefore it is up to the brain to see dead ppl, so yes, that is possible

Maybe we can think in something higher than the physical realm. In those pictures she has her physical eyes closed. When you dream don't you actually see stuff?

interesting .... now i look at it in a different way.

It could definitely be perceptions or sensations that lead her to "see" these things but I also think our eyes may be receiving data that we are not aware of but that our brain processes anyway. We think we know so much about our bodies capabilities but I can't help but believe we will continue to discover new ones in the future. Who knows, maybe we will make an evolutionary jump and find ourselves able to do all manner of great things.

would be nice.. but its been about 3000 years of recorded history now... and no evolutionary jumps so far.

I think we're due for one. There is a great book, Darwin's Radio by Greg Bear, that addresses just such an evolutionary leap. The premise is that something is sleeping in our genetic code and when conditions are right, it will be activated.

yes indeed, humankind's potential is far, far greater than most realise or even could ever have dreamt of. good to see news of some of the latent abilities spreading.

Scienticically it's not only plausable, it's possible.
We see objects when our eyes register the light reflected back from them, not all light is reflected, some passes through.
Our brains are capable of filtering out background noise picked up by our ears to focus in on conversations, our brains could easily do the same with information from our eyes.

Anyone remember the special glass that was all over the news a few years ago (I think they even made it into lenses for some sony cameras) that filtered out all reflected light and alowed you to see through clothes?

I don't think it's a matter of human evolution more a matter of social evolution, there are so many stories of people with 'magical powers' in our histories, 'magical powers' that became an executable offence in the dark ages and even to this day are taboo.

Our potential is already there, we just need the freedom to explore it.
