In Chrisitanity, as far as i know, each human being has free will and full control of his actions. In cases of mental illness (bipolar, schizophrenia) this control can be lost with no external catalysts, such as drugs/pain..., to perpetuate the actions that could follow loss of this control. How does christianity view mental illness? What happens to an ill massmurder, or a suicide brung about by such a condition? are they immediately forgiven by god? Should loss of will within mental illness just be catagorized as an external catalyst? Shouldn't god give us the right to follow him without fear of throwing ourselves of a bridge without knowing it until you hear the sound?

historically they would burn the insane as being possessed, witches, or something else rather..medieval...currently, i think a majority accept the possibility of a mental disorder indeed being a natural hiccup in the brain matter...however there are still stories of people killing family members during exorcisms...usually in third world countries...

as for forgiveness, if they accept jesus in their life, than they are forgiven all evil deeds, i'm sure that could apply to crazy people...however i do wonder about those who believe they are christ...can they forgive themselves?

Forgiven yes, I can say that any person with a mental desize can be a christian, my sister is mentally retarded but she knows her faith very baisc but all that is needed.
Suicide, that cannot be said what happens, its up to God. I have asked many times, and there is NO place in the bible that says that suicide sends you straight to hell. Its audiaphorah (that is spelled wrong) but it means it never says in the bible so we just dont know. Such as unborn babies, we just dont know. The common christian opinion on suicide is that if it is commited in a moment of weakness (such as a sickness) that your faith will pull you through, but that question CANNOT be awnserd on earth, by anyone.
If a massmurder repents and comes to christ (or better said Christ comes to HIM being that christianity is not choice related, thats a differnt reliegon) he will go to heaven, there is NO degree of sins, if you steal a candy bar, you are the same in Gods eyes as if you killed 2000 people.

The great thing about a religion, ssecret, is it is a collection of philosophies, not just one, written in stone, absolute. I know that my views on this subject definitely does not represent most christians, but I am a christian, so whatev. You are forgiven for your sins before you ever even commit them. Someone who is mentally ill is not qualitatively different from anyone else: We all sin, we are all innately broken, we all strive to do good, but often fall flat on our faces, we are all in varying degrees of denial.

An insane person, especially a dangerously insane person, is very quantitatively different form us. More broken, more in denial.

I only speak my mind because I think it means something. Maybe some day, you'll decide to put the categories back into one section.

This isn't hostility, this is me telling you how I feel. How I feel is disappointed. Splitting religion & Philosophy into six different sections basically says that the two aren't connected. But they are. How you think is directly related to your religious beliefs, to your lifestyle, to your maigc, to your politics. I feel like categorizing them as separate decreases the potential for meaningful conversation.

I'm not the kind of person who criticizes something for no reason. I actually do hope that you'll decrease the categorization.

it's all inspired by a person and how their mind fuctions, science, philosophy, religion...the split was done a long time ago...i believe even before gargoyle took over, we are working on making less, but it will take time and careful considertaion, the last move had posters all sorts of scrambled and lost...it's not easy changing something on such a drastic scale...these boards have been discussed.

How so? I mean, for instance, what's scientific about saying someone is better off a self-realized murderer than in denial and harmless?
