What if....
Religion & The OccultDiscuss What if.... in the Debate and Discussion forums; If you had to pick a religion (or change your own) what would you choose? Can you name some of the advantages and disadvantages??
Curently I'm a christian but ...
Damnit, I had a dashed long reply to this untill my 'puter decided to commit temporary suicide, so I'll summarise it here for the moment:
Since my "religion" is very sketchy at the moment, I can't talk about that, but if I had to choose one "defined" religion it'd probably be Hinduism or Mexica - both of which have some cool Gods and a similar "philosophy" to my own. I also actually quite admire the "conservatism" of the Roman Catholic Church, it is the epitome of the religious "elite", and of CE Religious Tradition, which I like; naturally I'd have to adapt their systems a little were I to pracise it in any way.
And yes icy, I'm glad you decided to come join us in the intellectual platform that is the Religion Board! Good luck!
I prefer the earth religions...they are more open to interpretation, and you can find a god or goddess for any need you have Kind of a pick and choose religion

Any religion with a favorable tolerance toward roguish behavior..... including gambling, alcoholism, boisterous attitudes, and finally absolute sexual freedom.......
sounds like I may become an Irish Catholic...... of course I will have to watch out for those pesky bastard Protestants......

I would follow the old norse Gods...preferrably Freya or Frigg...they have a variety of gods, almost anyone can find one suitable...and I like the concept that the Gods are not immortal...they have weaknesses just like us humans...and in a sense, we are their descendants, so that figures.
Not to mention, it would be an honor to my oh! so proud heritage...
You promised me the ending would be clear
You'd let me know when the time was now
Don't let me know when you're opening the door
Stab me in the dark, let me disappear
Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

Curently I'm a christian but I plan on switching to a religion that meets more of what I want to be and believe in
(I know you'll be over joyed when you read this AAAAA) :p [/
QUOTE] well there is so many religions, my parents christened me as a catholic, but i need to decide for myself what i believe in.I think i feel that religion is manufactured. And why live your life by the rules of what another human (who so equal to what we are not better or lesser than us) wrote!
flying through the wind with my wings of steel,
hoping to achieve what i want.
In the darkness of reality, soon i will be there in the light, taking flight
Well like I said I am currently catholic but next July I'm meeting the pope (go me!!) and since right now I don't feel like I'm in the right religion, that will be the final test. If so I'm switchin to something thats more intune with what I want to pursue such as animal and living spirtual beliefs. Catholic is all about worshipping and getting lil in return untill the promised land, but I want to see that my worship is for a good cause and that I'm doing it to help something, instead of worshipping completely into a diety that needs no help.
So I think christian wiccan (I want some of my old religion) would be an ideal choice for me
Well....I don't actually have a religion I guess. I do believe in God....I just hate churches and organized religion that makes me feel guilty for living. I would say that I lean more and more toward earth religions myself. I just hate the belief that has been bred into me by society that there can be only 1 god. I find so much interesting about the earth religions....but then I come across a God that is not my known god....guilt hits me and the breaks come on. I am growing more comfortable with it as time goes on....i have accepted that there is only 1 god but that he has many faces and facets to worship.
Anyone else have or had a problem with this? just curious
