im glad last heathen dilineated the idea behind christianity as slavery. if you look into revelations and its description of heaven its pretty much these human beings angels and everything else bowing and worshiping god 24/7

Anyone read anything about the so called saints? I can honsetly say that I am more christian than a lot of them. Well, aside from the whole not believing in god thing.

Yes, some religions can be cruel.... and lead thier flock toward cruelty.... lets not forget the crusades or the fall of the roman empire or many other travesties that have occured because of religious beliefs.... but what are we to do have the equivalent of a jihad against all known religions.... religion has been with us since the dawn of mankind... even before speech... we cannot dismiss it so readily.... killing a man because of thier beliefs is what brought about all of those past religious wars... the only solution I can see is tolerance and respect.... mutual mind you.... the only other answer is to nuke the world clean of all human kind.... and that solution means death for all

i still dont see why skorp thinks im an idiot. and religion has been with us from as far as archeologist can see, but that doesnt mean its needed.people used religion as a scapegoat to explain what they didnt understand, we should have matured enough to know we will never understand alot of things and stop using religion as a way to deal with that fear of our iggnorance.

Dyshade, I really don't agree. I have heard that argument many times. If there was no such thing as religion, we would still be very different people. To say religion is one of the few things that makes people different is to simplify things. There are still infinte things that make me different than other atheists, even though we are the same religion.

Diversity.......... unless you want to be an inbred red headed step-child..... is one of the main survival traits of the human race.....

i understand religion makes us diverse but it has alot of negative aspects we dont need. we're diverse in so many other ways it's unneccessary.

Religion is not going to go away...... being an Athiest does not mean you are not religious..... you still hold strong to a theological viewpoint.... which is that god does not exist and your conscious spirit dies with the flesh...That is a belief without proof.... faith if you will.... can you prove that nothing happens after death......

Atheism requires no faith. Do you believe in the easter bunny? You have no proof he doesn't exist. Does that mean it requires faith to not believe in the easter bunny? No. Claims must be proven. If you tell me you know aliens exist, I'd ask for proof. God, despite what religious people want to think, is the same exact case. Until it is proven, it is irational to believe it.

Belief is an integral part of the human psyche.... if you say that you believe in Nothing... you still have that belief in Nothing..... we are all frail mortal creatures who are absolutely ignorant of the consequences of death.... yes religion kills... if it was not religion it would just be something else.... science is a belief... our mathematical system is pure speculation.. for all we know somewhere in the universe two plus two could easily equal three... everything is pure extrapolation... theory...

ok so i worded that wrong, we dont need a hate/love religion. and im not atheist in that i dont believe in god im athiest in that i dont know of god's existence. but likewise i dont know of his non existence. and i dont know what happens when i die. i dont know if that's a finite or if they're is something else. but im not going to believe that there is just because all these uncertanties scare me.

Also, if you still cling to the notion that disbelief requires faith, then faith is meaningless. I can think of infinate things that I do not believe exist. If it actually takes faith to think of these things then not believe because they are unproven, then I have infinate faith. We all have imaginations, so we all have infinate faith. If we all have infinate faith, faith is completely and utterly useless as a word.

If you have no faith than how can you so easily dismiss life after death..... it takes faith.... faith is the pure belief in somethig that cannot be proven....... once again can you prove that I will not exist after I die... if not than I must take your Athiest beliefs in faith....

Did anyone else notice dyshades change from FAITH to BELIEF? Yes, I believe things, we all do, and I agree, but faith is not required for every belief. I think it was a little underhanded how you changed your argument midstream.
