blueboy, ppl need to be religious sometimes. leave the world out of it, damnitt. the world is fucked no matter how we look at it. religion is a happier look at it.

religion is the disease that has led to the deaths of millions of humans. so you say your world sucks so lets all believe something just because, thats trash. that's what people do when they're afraid of they're mortality. and its led to the murder of whole civilizations. people dont need religion. they need to accept that they'll never know the truth and not go giving their lives to a belief because they think they cant function in a world that's unpredictable. and that was a good joke

yes it has. I dislike religion also. it all sounds like a fairy tale. but some ppl need that kind of thing to keep them going. it helps alot a ppl.

and it's not all bulshit if so many ppl believe in it. there must be something so special to them that even though their lives suck so much, but still god must be great for them to still go to church.

i love ppl who are religious, thats their belief. don't go calling so many ppl idiots. ppl that hate large groups of ppl are wrong. we all know its wrong hate homosexuals just b/c they like ppl of the same sex. or black ppl b/c they're black. why isn't it wrong to hate ppl who are religious.

religion is a crutch... do not get me wrong...I am not knocking it... with a broken leg you walk with a crutch.. some people whose very spirit is broken need that crutch.. for every evil that religion may have caused it has also cured many wounded and desperate souls... I respect everyones singular theological view... but it is a two way road... you cannot expect someone to respect your opinion if you trash thiers... arguing is one thing... saying outright that anothers beliefs are garbage is a sure fire way of finding yourself lonely and unlistened too

i never said anyone's religion was garbage i said believing something for no reason at all is garbage. and if i told you i believe that the sun gave birth to all life and said i believe it just because would you think im a fool? i sure hell would and thats why i think these people that believe something and cant come up with a rationale answer to why they believe it are fools. and you seem to have the wrong idea on where i stand go read my posts

Then if you could, I'd ask why. Someone said religion makes the world a happy place. I do not think living only to be a slave is a happy life. If you do not do your masters bidding, you will be tortured forever. If you do your masters bidding, you are rewarded. This reward is reason enough for people to love him. This is some seriously deranged logic. Because your master gives you a loaf of bread instead of whipping you is not enough to love your master. I do not think real love is possible between master and slave. Fear, respect, and awe, yes, but real love?
Someone else said something about how the bible says the christians will be persecuted. I'd just like to say that is a big load of crap. Ever hear of the jews? The pagans? Women? Black people? Man, besides WASP men, I don't think any group of people hasn't been persecuted. But when some kids on the internet say god doesn't exist, or christians are fools, then bible humpers yell "PROPHECY!! PROPHECY!! THE BIBLE SAID THIS WOULD HAPPEN!!!"
One more thing. I am scared about mortality. I do not fear punishment or reward (yes, I would fear heaven if it existed), but the thought of not existing is still scary. I will not jump off a bridge. If you are scared about dying, it makes no sense to kill yourself. It does make sense, though,t o convince yourself you will, in fact, NOT die. Now that is comfort.

Dyshade, while you have been rational, I do not acceept your logic. My parenst have the same live and let live approach. I am one of the more radical atheists, though. I think religion is bad for society. It breeds hate and intolerance. I think it was Neitchse who said

If religion is to exist, I will only tolerate (not believe) a loving religion. One without flames, and demons, and eternal pain. Christianity, Juadism, and Islam are all hate loving, cruel religions that must be abolished if mankind wants to be free.

was does god exist? i think with all the post that have been put here it's obvious you cant prove he exist. so now it's gone to if you cant prove he exist why believe it. and all ive heard is cuz i need religion to help me through my life. and that's untrue. because people who are atheist are getting along fine so why cant you. and as far as when i die what will i see? i have no idea my throat has never been slit. but thats not going to make me believe out of fear of not knowing.
