the most basic explantation i can put rather simply. ill go ahead and post in more detail on another thread. but anyways we can see how the universe was 10 years ago. it sort of leaves a footprint in space. we can also see how it was 20 years ago and 30 and 40. and we can see how it is now and we can see where it is going. tomorrow it will be bigger than today. yesterday it was smaller. two days ago it was even smaller than that. 1 year ago it was smaller than that and 10 years ago even smaller 20 smaller 30 smaller and 40 smaller. logically since the only force that is making it expand is inertia we can say that a million years ago it was even smaller. think about it and visualize it 20 billion years ago and it was pretty damn small. since there is nothing that would cause it to be a certain size than start expanding for no reason we can say that if we travel back in time the universe will keep getting smaller and smaller. go back 20 billion years and start time it would be super small and then if you could watch it from the begining you would have the big bang, wich scientist would rather call the big stretch or the big expansion. now this is very very simple. the way i explain it here would constitute theory but from all the information we have its beyond a shadow of a doubt or as we put it "fact". ill actually get into it on another thread not sure when maybe the next couple days as thanksgiving is coming and end of term is creeping up on me.. and yes hawkings was against the theory but that was before nasa sent up COBE wich got us alot, and i mean alot of info on the universe. the reason hawkings was against the big bang was because we didnt know of any laws of physics that would allow such a dense area of matter to expand the way it did. but we do now. also nasa just sent another probe called MAP earlier this month like on the 12th to follow up on what cobe found. it will not start doing any readings however till like 2002. and hopefully we can see the shape of the universe the size and where its going, not to mention alot of other cosmology that doesnt have to do with the universe's origin.

somehow, i can't believe that one can just cease to exist, but i can't quite believe in an afterlife either. i believe that when you die, you are free. problems and pain are gone and you float through a void of utter calm and peace and tranquility...

of course, i also believe in reincarnation, so eventually the little void of tranquility collapses and your soul takes on a body and you go through that whole shitty "life" thing again, not remembering that peaceful tranquility at all and you spend years wondering about it until finally you get so depressed with your fucked up life and so curious about the after death thing that you just kill yourself and do it all over again!!!!!!

Thanks for the explanation Blue, I wasn't aware that Hawking had changed his mind.

i havent read anything from hawkings that responds to the info nasa found. he still might be against the big bang. wich would mean he would have to have some pretty far fetched ideas to explain himself, but hawkings has been known for that. i have read articles from physicist that colaborate closely with hawkings though, and im assuming hes accepted that its pretty impossible the big bang didnt occur. the thing with the big bang is that it couldnt happen if you think the laws of physics that govern our immediate world govern everything. but we know that's not true now. in black holes all the basic laws of physics go fuking haywire and nothing makes sense wich is why black holes are so interesting.
anyways there are now alot of weird theories on how the big bang occured. the one i read most recently was that we coexist with other realities. and for some reason one of our neighboring realities had a rip in its fabric and flooded our reality with a shitload of matter sort of like when you turn on your sink faucet. all this matter came spewing out wich was the initial force that caused the universe to "explode". for some reason the rip sealed itself. and inertia kept all the matter that was introduced to our reality moving outward. and its still moving to this day. thats a theory though. and believing that would be faith. wich would be the same thing as believing in god. although i think this makes more sense than god.

Well physics would have to break down in a Black Hole or Big Bang scenario because mathematics isn't designed to handle infinity. I doubt that our reality is parallel to another reality, I think it's easier to believe that realities fly around each other like galaxies or electrons.

i have a theory i came up with a while ago about big baing and black holes. i dont neccisarily fell to strongly that thisis true, but if the big bang theory is right, then this just kinda seems logical, but logic dies when u have no idea what ur talking about,
the theory goes: any givin number of ramdom black holes exist at aany givin moment. those black holes , and new black holes continue to pull in matter into itself. (this theory relies on the fact(beleif) that black holes are not holes at ll but spheres,) ( a black hole is said to be a exteemly massive star whose gravity pulls even its self to its center, condensing its self and everything it pulls into it indefinetly) all these black holes get so strong that the stength of there gravity reach each other, and eventually that pull each other, into each other. all the combined coes of all the black holes, would create a gravity force to strong to even keep its self together, even though the matter is already condenced. ... the large matter that blew up, making the big mang would be the product of this proccess. somehow, it explodes, maybee some sort of back-fireing compresson. the gravity would try to compress the matter, but would not be able to, so like a gun back-fireing when the bullet can not get out. the matter explodes, instead of imploding. my theory is that this is a cycle that never stops.

( its kinda like those little exploding ball screen savers)

I read something along those lines in "Bearing an Hourglass" by Piers Anthony, but it doesn't quite work. I could explain it with my knowledge but Blueboy's seems a bit more accurate so I'll let him expand on it, but a black hole gets smaller the more gravity it acquires.

i know, but at a certain point, it would not be abel to get any smaller. there is a very simple argument against my theory. the fact is that as simple as it is,.... i dont know it.a very very smart person at school told me that there are ,..i thing4, forms of.... energy, i guess he said ( when i say energy i mean the kind like gravity, that atract other stuff ) all of which, gravity is the weakest.(off the subjust, its kinda obvious if u think about it. but its interesting to know that gravity hasnt accually been discovered yet. its still a theory. no1 knows what graviry is, they think its something called the graviton) the argument is that ,...the strongest of all of them (i dont remember what its called ) would not allow the explosion to happen. it would be a continuous cycle of egnition, and containing that explosion.

Well there is no actual point where a Black Hole should stop shrinking. Gravity is the weakest force, but they've pretty much established gravity itself as existing. Gravitons are another matter I believe. Again, I'd like to hear Blueboy's opinion on this.

I personally do believe in an after-life, but I do not believe in religion. Religion tears this world apart, all it does is separate people into groups -- and therefore we can never live in harmony. However, I do believe that every person has a soul, this is what drives us to live. Without it, we are nothing....we have nothing to look forward to, and nothing to repent. I believe that when we die our souls live eternally......that this is just a stepping stone to gain knowlege for a higher state of being. I am totally open-minded when it comes to anything....Im always looking to gain a broader perspective on things.....so you won't hear me arguing much. I'm always trying to learn more about myself....about my soul..both the positives and the negatives -- because that is where the answers to life lay.......within.

Good question. Personally, I think it is like an indeterminate state, that our souls are free to move about (in basic terms). I don't want to start preaching to anyone, that is not my intent....but just from the things I have seen in my life, it is evident to me that there is more to this life than meets the eye. I have had things happen to friends of mine, that I foresaw...but I didnt see it with my eyes. I saw it with my soul, and I wrote about it....like pictures in the back of my head, like a movie was playing. --Really strange stuff. Right now a very close friend of mine is in the hospital, she lost her leg in a car accident......now, on the day that that happened, I saw it in my head...but i sorta brushed it off, ya know? But then two weeks later I had heard from her and it confirmed what I had seen......now what the hell does that mean? I hate myself for what i have seen....I wish I was like everyone else. Just to be able to think like a normal person...but I can't. I just fucking cant. (Sorry this is a very emotional subject to me). It always seems to happen to me when there is a traumatic event....and it is becoming more frequent the older I get. Its like a sense almost....I feel that something is terribly wrong, and then I see it. Or sometimes I just feel there is something terribly wrong, and then events confirm what I felt...on both accounts, they are very immense feelings that I get. I've had instances where I would be shaking uncontrollably, my face felt like it was on fire, and I wouldn't blink.....kinda like a trance state. The most predominant would have to be the face on fire.....that always seems to be there. This is why I do believe there is an afterlife.....there is an answer to every question....and I have questions that no one has been able to answer.
PS - I don't do drugs or anything, so don't think that Im fucked up on crack or something. This has been occuring to me since I was young, but I really never thought anything of it....I always thought that I was like everyone else. Its these last few years that I have realized that this shit aint normal....and i've come to accept who I am. So in other words, I really don't care what you people think of me.....you can think Im some fucked up moron, or whatever....but all I can say is that I speak the truth, and that aint ever gonna change.
