Nietzsche died in the 1890's. Due to illness, he was in bed for the end of his life and his sister is said to have edited some of his work to include pro german stuff, as she was left in charge of getting his books published and all that. God is dead wasn't really a theory as much as a statement. To the a lot of the intellectual world, if not most, god was dead. Science had destroyed the idea of the christian god. He did say some sexist things. Of course his other brilliant ideas are not as well known as his uberman and sexist ones because the christian church does its best to demonize him. The superman thing is very confusing and there are a lot of different ideas on what he meant. One prevailing one is the uberman is the next thing that humans will evolve into. Also, it is said by strength he did not mean physical or mental, but the ability to overcome. He was not a german patriot, as he insulted germany in some of his work. The nazis weren't around when he was alive, so the claims he was just a nazi are completely false. The nazi's took his work and interpretted it a certain way. Just as it's silly to blame the movie Natural Born Killers for real murder, it is silly to blame Nietzsche for the nazi movement.

Or as silly as blaming christianity for the Crusades or Inquisition
