Hmmm?

I believe in re-incarnation, i also and while i have always believed in it i found something interesting the other day in a science journal explaining that their is scientific reasoning behind re-incarnation as well it is this.
That life like all things is a form of energy and if you've taken science classes you will know that energy doesn't go away it just changes form and when we die the energy that is US as such moves on to fill and be filled in a different form that could be anything but i believe it puts a case forward for re-incarnation... anyway spose i have babbled enough later :-)

I'm a stubborn atheist. If anyone is up for a little friendly debating, I'm game. It is depressing to think after you die you will be gone forever, but it is more depressing to think there is an omnipotent creature who sentences good people to burn forever yet lets murderers and theives enjoy an everlasting paradise.

The whole statement you made assumes there are "good" people in this world. If I'm correct, then Christians believe that there are no inherently good people. They (Christians) believe that even the "good" things are done for the wrong reasons, making them no longer good. At least, thats what my friends tell me. Just want to see how you respond....

I am up for debating, atheist view VS. Christian view, as long as, you know, it's not going to get really personal. I don't want to fight and get pissed. But if you want a good natured debate ( or atleast something LIKE it ) I'm good to go.

Christianity tells you nothing is good. It is their sales pitch. If we believe we are good people and can live good, happy lives, why would we ever buy Christ? Christianity invented sin. It also invented the cure for sin. This was a rather shreud business move. We are not all evil and vile, just gullible.

I can debate well without using quotes, don't worry. I'll start. Before we waste time, I need to know if you believe soley on faith. If so, this would be rather pointless, but even then, I have some things to say.

And to whoever said they're a christian but they don't condemn or judge, do you agree fellow Nazi's, while they did not order the killings, condemned the jews? Like the Nazi's worshipping Hitler, you worship one who condemns and judges, and therefore condemn and judge through him.

I think the most logical answer to why there would be religon is that people created it because they wanted to think they live forever, they didn't want to accept "oh, we just die", besicaly lieing to them selfs and it has morphed into a cult basisically now people believe it because its what there parents thaught them instead off actully thinking if there could be faults. I my self was a devote chatolic until I started seeing all the contridiction in the faith I have read the bible because my parents made me go to a chatolic school for four years I had relgion everyday so I know alot about "the" faith and there are just to many loop holes for me to logically believe it. Please consider this and decide for yourself if you believe in a god or not I have chosen not to, but be aware believes are beliefs and while they can sometimes be right they can not be changed ideas can be changed Let me see if I can remember i goes "we beileve in one holy and apastolic faith... We believe in one god the true god" etc... ask your self if you really believe this, if you do not maybe your better off with ideas.

God is by most defenitions perfect. If you think you are worshipping an imperfect god, I suggest you find a perfect one. Perfection, in itslelf, is also a contradiction. Nothing can be all merciful and all just. They contradict each other. And we've all heard "can god creat a rock bigger than he can lift?" How about can he make a creature he is incapable of loving? You say you may get a reward for your belief. You want heaven so you believe. Can not your god see through this?

I was born to a muslim father and a christian mother so, boy was I a confused kid! Do I believe in god, no. Do I believ in something, yes, although I haven;t quite figuered out what yet. I like to think of myself as a spiritual person, but I'm usually so messed up that its difficult to have faith in anything. You know?

This phrase has made things more tolerable: this Being that designed the platypus, giraffe, emu, walking catfish, penguin, created hairless Great Apes in 57 flavors and textures and then added just enough intelligence to be a galactic pain in the ass...

Overall, it really doesn't make a wart on the ass of the collective; we do what we want, when we cannot be caught or indicted, we aren't ready for absolution, let alone abstenance, understanding and/or relief.

Exzactly anyone lif is pain anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. this comes into play with the chatolic faith while i relize that it's obviously not the only religon to believe in a higher power (most do) i would like to use it as an exsample of relgious propiganda. ok so if you not chatolic they invite you in telling you nothing more then its free, if you do jesus (useing higher power to intimadate) will love you. but as soon as you get into the faith what do they tell you, spread the word, bring your friends into the faith so your lord will not eternally punish them for not believeing. well these people get to think oh i have to be this persons savior or they will go to hell and burn (hey how to they know that a hell would be so hot if they haven't been there). so chatolism has found away to expand it self by intimidateing there followers to "save" their friends foro the depths of hell. I relize this isn't directly connected to is there a god but i just need to get it off my chest thatnk you for actully takeing the time to read it.

You guys have obviously given this a great deal of thought. I used to believe in nothing and thought evryone else was wrong, but have nw learnt to appreciate everyone elses opinions. Way to go skorpian!! There is the age old question though. If God exists, why are so many people sick and miserable? Also, perhaps we should stop wondering what happns when we die. After all no one knows until they actually die...

To be honest, I don't want to know! Death to me is a mystery, and I want it to stay that way. To know death, to understand it, is to understand life, and that cannot be achieved until after death. As far as God goes...I don't have a clue. All I know is, I don't believe.
