You let it become a chat. When Skorpion and Kernal Kid start to ruin a thread, it is the duty of the threads creator to tell them to knock it off. If you look back you'll notice I actually tried to get them to stop for you, but with no luck.
Here's something on the topic of the original thread...
I hear a lot of people claiming the bible contains fulfilled prophecy. This is not true. Let us look to the book of Matthew for an example. By the way, no one named Matthew wrote that book. The writers of the gospels did not know Jesus, and they did not have the names they gave their books. Where was I? Now if you read Matthew, he tries to say that Jesus was prophecised in the old testament. Just look at his first point, though. Jesus was born of a virgin. He says this prophecy came from the book of Isaiah. Read the book of Isaiah. There are two large problems.
First of all, the original hebrew said young woman, as opposed to virgin. When the old testament was translated into greek, it was changed. Matthew, not realizing this, or not caring, went with the incorrect translation of the bible, thus he says virgin, not young woman. If you want to know the specific word in hebrew and then what it was changed to in greek so you can look it up, ask me.
Another problem with Matthew using Isaiah to prove Jesus is the prophecised messiah-Isaiah was not talking about a messiah. He was speaking of someone else who was to be born much sooner, whos name would be Immanuel. Read Isaiah, that is not Jesus he's talking about.
Sorry for such a long thread. It may have gotten a little dry in there, but I think it's important to actually refute the claim of the bible having real prophecy in it.

I think the reason that so many people beleive in a higher being is because it is too hard for their minds to comprehend how the earth came to be out of nothingness. Because every thing we know has a begining and an end, A book, a life, even the earth. Its hard for me to believe that god "allways was, and allways will be" That is too mind boggling for me.

I know but its just hard to believe, and once you start thinking about it it just gets ya more and more confused...

i think ppl believe in god b/c the scientific babble is sorta hard to swallow. a star blew up and the earth was made and we all came from some pond scum. it's sorta hard to say "yeah i was pond scum, then a monkey, then i became a human, and started using the grey matter called a brain". it's easier just to say "god made the earth in 7 days"

as far as god exsisting, i don't know. i sorta want proof. something to let me know we're not just here. that maybe, just maybe, we are servants of god. that we go to heaven, or hell. that we aren't alone in this world. i hope that proof will come about some day.
