There is a well documented scientific principle which states that there is an energy that binds all things, although much of this energy's nature is unknown. This energy is responsible for all bindings, from the swirling of the galaxies to the most arbitrary cellular cohesion. This conclusion is drawn from yet another scientific principle: the fact that like atoms repel each other. In other words, all matter would spread throughout the universe endlessly unless there were an outside energy acting upon it (see the relation to the Big Bang Theory and the Theory of Relativety?). Physicists and physicist fledglings (like myself) know that eventually physics will become one single gigantic equation that sums up this energy, and thus ALL things in the universe, an eventuality known as the Grand Unified Theory. This equation will, in essence, be God. While not presented to any known sense, humans have always been aware of this energy. Men have also been unable to allow things that they cannot understand remain unexplained. Simple people will have an answer, whether it is the right one or not. The most comforting explanation, and thus the most common one, is to personify this energy. That way, people can feel closer to it. Such is human nature. It could be said, then, that God was created in the likeness of man, not vice-versa. Anyway, I believe and hope that as we move into the future, people will drop the primitive pantheon of a "god" and interact with the energy, understanding that you only get out of it what you put in. we are finding out the nature of that energy slowly but surely.... and if we give ourselves enough time we may finally come to an understanding of it..... chance after all is just what we call something we do not understand..... once we understand it the logic of chances flies out of the door....

I believe when we die we will then realize that God or energy is the largest thing.
The bible says that God holds all things together by the power of his word.

I am aware of the similarities between the Christian doctrine and what I said. You could make the same connection with any other religion. The point of the post is to suggest that the energy existed before all things, including the concept of any and all deities. Deities and ceremonies are what man created to comfort themselves and to make their spiritual selves more tangible. The energy IS NOT the spirit of Jesus or anyone or anything else. What I am saying is that religion superimposed people, events, and stories on to the energy because the primitive men who created religion were not capable of understanding it's nature as it was and still is. I do not mean to offend you. When I say primitive, I do not mean it derogatorially. While people today are still somewhat primitive, the people then were much more simple. I feel that as more of the nature of this energy is understood, people will eventually drop the idea of deities, while others will probably kill themselves or others. Scientific basis of religion? There's an oxymoron.

The problem with the World today is that people take science on faith and demand proof of religion.

Science works on theory firstly and proof secondly.... that is true.... yet it only relies on those theories if they eventually prove themselves..... Basic Science is a correlation of theories that have been proven..... Advanced Science is composed of theories awaiting proof....... there is a difference...... For instance I can prove that Gravity works..... all i have to do is toss an object into the air and it will hit its apex and begin to fall back to earth.... hence gravity....... and its evident proof....
yet one can say god does good..... and provide no proof at all of this statement...... you could argue that the followers of said god are doing god possibly..... yet that only provides us with the information that those "people" are doing good.... not thier god....

If faith needed to be directed at either, science is surely the intelligent choice. It has shown itself as useful in real life, it has corrected itself innumerable times (when was the last time a religion corrected itself?) and if it has any motives at all, they are much less blatant and dangerous than the motives of a religion.

Having faith in something that is open to discussion and forever changing is not really having much faith at all.

an earthy energy doesn't have anything to do with jesus other than the fact that before he was a living dead creature he was part of it...all living things are bound to and by this energy...and the "source" is and can be anything that the creature names it for easier understanding...some people choose a male deity, others tend to go more for the feminine aspect of the energy and others just worship it as the earth herself...how can it be the christian god if most of the energy is dismissed as evil and unnatural?

First to Dark Messiah: I refer you to Occum's razor. It is a very old and established scientific principle that states that if there is just as much information pointing one direction as the other, the simplest explanation is the right one.

To Jordyn: The energy will reflect how you interact with it. If the energy is evil and unnatural for someone, it means that they are somewhat evil themselves. All people have the potential for evil. The energy is nuetral; for example, think of it as a shovel. Wheteher you use it to dig a hole and plant a tree, or to cave someone's skull in, it's use is completely up to you.

One of those ideas is that science does consist of faith.... yet it is faith based on proven principle..... not on baseless fiction....

how clever of you...witches have known that for centuries...it's just kind of...charming that science is just now catching up to those who are in tune with the earth...and those who often scoff at the arts are just now seeing that there is indeed something to it...whether it's an area of the hypothalmus that creates god for believers, a chant under the moonlight to focus and draw in the energy or chewing a bit of willow bark for relief of headaches and wearing hematite and amethyst to help balance emotions...

That is very true. Science, like all things that offer answers, requires faith, but in things that can eventually be proven. In other words, if you are going to put time and effort into faith, your best investment is science. Religion claims to have the answers; but in reality, they only offer supplementary answers for those unwilling to seek provable ones. With the exception of Buddhism.

I mistrust a lot of "psychic" activity...I know how easy it is to fake knowledge...anyone with a dramatic flair, a knack for storytelling and an aura of...mystery can pull it off...but nature is not fake and I agree dy that it does take a lot of will...and why doing spells, rituals or even prayer if being done properly can be quite draining...as for the concept of psychic vampires...I don't know what to think of them...however those that make that claim do not like being around me...I don't know why

i've had the same experiences...they always end up feeling drained...hmmmm...guess it's a power struggle that's why whenever I hear someone spouting that they are some "mystical" beign I have to meet them...usually I end up laughing at them...funny for being such a believer I like proving fakes...i guess it's to help and disperse a lot of the glamorized, television era romanticism about the arts...oh well...i find very few do indeed know what they are talking about...
